92- uhm, who's the kid sleeping in the lab?

in honor of me rewatching civil war for the like, 7th time, I wrote another rouge avengers story.

basic plot where the rouge avengers were pardoned and everything like that.

they haven't met Peter bc Tony doesn't want them to.

Steve and the other avengers had been banned from every lab, and even though they weren't allowed, Steve, Bucky, and Sam walked down the hallway to the lab, only to hear noises coming from one of the labs.

curious the three listened in.

they were confused when they saw a kid in the lab.

"I think we should add the jet boosters to it," the kid said with a yawn.

"really? wouldn't that weigh it down?" Tony replied, seemingly not noticing the kid was about to fall asleep.

"hm," the kid murmured, rubbing his face tiredly, "well why don't we just add more mettle to the legs to even it out. it would make it heavier but it would still fly,"

"huh," Tony said in thought, "that's smart, kid,"

"good job," he said with pride, ruffling the kid's hair.

the three were surprised at that.

Tony was so kind to the kid.

he was proud of him and looked at the kid like he was his own.

the kid yawned as Tony typed something into the hologram screen in front of him, the kid putting his head down on his crossed arms.

after a moment or so Tony pressed enter and another screen popped up.

"Alright Pete, I think we should get rid of the mettle on top, what do you think?" he asked, eyes still on the screen in front of him.

"kid?"

Tony looked back at the kid, and murmured a small, "oh," when he saw he was asleep.

"you'd agree with me. Yeah, you'd say yes. Let's do it, I'm right,"

Tony turned back to the hologram and typed something into it, pressing on other things as well.

that's when the three stepped in.

"Tony?" Steve said, catching Tonys attention

"what the hell are you guys doing here? I told you to stay away from the labs!" he exclaimed in a hushed whisper, not wanting to wake up Peter.

"who's this kid?! why is he here?!" Steve asked

"he's an intern, that's it,"

"If he's an intern, why is there a superhero suit in a school bag?" Bucky asked.

Tony fell silent at that, unsure on how to give an excuse for that.

"Wha-" Peter murmured slightly lifting his head from his crossed arms and looking at them with squinted, tired eyes, making the four turn to him

"Nothing kiddo," Tony said dismissively, ruffling Peter's hair and lightly pushing his head down, "go back to sleep, I'll be back in a second,"

Peter looked at him confused for a second before putting his head back down and falling asleep.

Tony turned back to sam, bucky, and Steve

"let's talk outside,"

"that's spider-man?! that child?!"

"yes, he is," Tony replied.

"he's a kid!"

"yeah, a kid with superpowers! an effing building fell on him and he's ok! he can handle you and your friends,"

"oh my god, he caught my arm," Bucky murmured.

"no one can catch my arm, Steve can't even!"

"Yeah, he's strong. now leave! he doesn't need to know you more than superheroes and you don't need to know him more than spider-man, hell, you're not even supposed to know he's spider-man!"

"Tony you can't just show us Spider-Man then tell us to leave!" Steve exclaimed.

"No! I did not show you anything! you idiots just put your noses in places they don't belong! now don't make me ask you again, leave and don't even talk about Pet- I mean the kid again!"

the three were about to say something when there was a shadow in the doorway.

"Mr.Stark?" Peter murmured, rubbing his eyes tiredly, looking around the group obviously still half asleep.

"go back into the lab kid, give me a second, I'll be right back," Tony said, shoving Steve, Sam, and Bucky out of the way so Peter didn't see them.

Peter looked at him confused.

"wha-"

"just go back to the lab," Tony said, already pushing Peter back inside the lab.

"ok," Peter murmured in reply walking back to the lab as Tony immedetly closed the door behind him.

"look. forget everything you just saw and heard. now get the hell out of here,"

with that Tony walked back into the lab closing the door behind him.
