Stepping out of the shower, she felt fresh. She was actually pretty excited for today. After drying off, she put on her dress and stood in front of her vanity that had stacks upon stacks of makeup palettes. She never really wore makeup before and she never really knew how to apply it but after watching a few youtube videos, she was content with how her gold eyes popped. She was ready for her first day. Slipping her backpack on her shoulder she went downstairs and into the kitchen where Joey and her grandma were eating their breakfast. "Good morning Layla, you look lovely today." Her cheeks felt warm, she wasnt used to being complimented. "Thank you grandma." Smiling, her grandmother pushed a plate towards her and wiggled her eyebrows. "Eat up, its the big day." -The big day was when I watched my mother get arrested.- She began eating the soft, chocolatey pancakes and with each bite she fell more and more in love. "You made these?" She asked. "Yes ma'am. Right from scratch." Joey set his glass cup down with a clank and got up from his chair. "Nice seein ya this mornin, but I gotta go pick up some new playmates." Joey held a smirk on his face and by the look she knew exactly what he meant. He had always been a big flirt. He had also always been the one to make friends easily. Even though he was 8, he was a smart little cookie. She kissed him on the top off his head then put both their dishes in the sink. "I better go too. See ya grandma, bye Joey." "Dont get on the wrong bus!" Her grandmother joked. That would be exactly something I would do.

The bus ride to school was pretty awkward. She had all different kinds of eyes on her. Some belonged to boys who needed to keep theirs in there heads and some were from girls shooting daggers at her. She didn't even know them. The bus stopped at the school and everyone lazily got up and moved themselves out of the bus. She took out the phone she got "for emergencies" and looked at the time. She still had 20 minutes until they rang the morning bell. Not really knowing what to do, she made her way towards her locker. There were some many people that she wasnt use to seeing. She suddenly felt she shouldnt have worn this dress. Reaching her locker, it only took her one time to open it. Thanks Michael. Her locker was empty, except for a piece of folded paper that was placed in the middle. She grabbed the paper and unfolded it. It was a note.

Hey Layla,
I was just thinking.. Maybe you could meet me at your locker after school or something?
I didnt know if I had any classes with you so I just wanted to tell you now.. and I remembered your combination from Friday. I have a pretty good memory.
Im not a creep, I swear.
-Pizza boy.
She smiled to herself as she read the note. She actually made a friend. Well that was easy. Before she knew it, the morning bell rang and she was making her way to her first period classroom. Walking in, she decided to take a seat in the back. She always sat in the back, she felt less noticeable here. She started taking out her notebook and a pen when she her someone clear their throat in front of her. She looked up to the green eyed boy from Friday. She could feel her heartbeat skyrocket and her cheeks were on fire. "You're in my seat." He said. Her eyebrows pulled together, "Does it have your name on it?" "No." he spat. "But my name is on this desk in the seating chart." Seating chart? She grabbed her things and pushed passed him. His scent filled her nose and made her heart stop beating so fast. She stood in front of her teachers desk. "Ah, Miss. Myers." He held out his hand for her to shake. She shook it and gave him a soft smile. "Where am I going to be sitting?" She asked. Shuffling though some papers, he took at close look at what she guessed was the seating chart. "I'll put you right up front on the very last desk, next to the window." -Are you kidding me.-She gave a small "thank you" then went to what was now her desk. After a few more minutes, kids started piling in one after the other. Soon enough the whole room was filled with unfamiliar faces, all except one. Once the bell rung, Mr.Garcia stood from his desk and walked towards her. Oh, shit. "Now, before we get started." he said. "Over the weekend we gained a student at RidgeWay. Please, give a warm welcome to Layla Myers." A few "heys" spread through the room and she tried her best not to make eye contact with anyone. She sat back down in her seat and Mr.Garcia started his lesson. "Psst." Turning her head to the right she saw a very handsome boy looking right at her. His dark brown floppy hair hung right above his eyebrows and his brown eyes and tan skin made him look like he came straight out of a summer romance movie. "Hey Layla." he said. Not knowing what to say, she just gave a small wave. He laughed softly, "Im Jason." She could tell that he was trying to charm her. He looked like the kind of boy who was in the popular crowd and always had a girl clinging to his arm. She looked down at his shirt, "You're a wrestler?" she whispered. "Varsity's team captain." He smiled brightly showing off his pearly whites. They were perfect, he was perfect. She hated perfect. She ignored the comments that he kept trying to get her attention with for the rest of the period and when the bell rang, she practically ran out of the room. He was making her feel uncomfortable.

It was finally lunch time and she didn't know where she was going to sit. She got in line for lunch to pass time, but ended up only buying a water and some chips. She made her way out to the patio where there were tables set up everywhere. Her old school only had an inside cafeteria. She began wandering around trying her best to look like she knew what she was doing, but a girl sitting at a table by herself caught her eye. The girl wore a nirvana shirt and had short blonde hair. She was nodding her head up and down, even though she had no earphones in. Before she knew it, she was halfway to the girls table. She sat down and the girl spoke right away, "If you're here to make any comment about Nirvana sucking ass as band you should just get up and go back to where you came from. I dont care what you have to say." She was still looking down at the book in her hands. "You wont even care if its something along the line of .. Oh, I dont know, Nirvana is actually a kick ass band?" The girl raised her head slowly and looked at Layla . She decided to speak again, "Im actually new here. Today's my first day and I didnt know where to sit. Do you mind if I sit with you?" The girls scowl grew into a soft smile. "Sure, im Mya. And sorry, im just so used to hearing negative comments whenever I wear this shirt." They talked the rest of lunch period and said goodbye, knowing that they will see each other again in 8th period.
All of her classes were super easy to catch up with and before she knew it it was time to go home. Her and Mya were discussing a few of All Time Low's songs when she saw Michael leaning against her locker. "Layla! I've been waiting here for like 5 minutes." He said. She laughed softly. "I never agreed to meeting you at my locker." He pouted his lip then switched his glance to the girl next to her. "Oh, hey Mya." Before Mya could reply, Michael was shouting the same name two or three times, "Ashton!" He finally got his attention and waved him towards them. The green eyed boy from her first period was now standing right next to her. He smells so good. "Are you coming over later?" Michael asked the boy she had finally learned the name of. They started conversing and she noticed that Mya's face was flushed red and she kept swaying back and forth. She cut Michael off mid-sentence, "I think were gonna go. Ill see you tomorrow. Bye Michael." Tell him bye you wuss. She looked into Ashtons eyes, "Bye Ashton."
