Victor's POV

Everyone but the little ones were gathered on the roof playing a present day game.
"I think I want to stay here." Jake smiled.
"On the roof? Me too, but when Miss Peregrine comes back maybe we can't go to the beach." Millard suggested. Jake smiled and shook his head, "I mean here, in 1940."
"Really? You mean it?" I haven't seen Emma so happy in years.
"I don't really belong in Florida." Jake said in a troubled way. I could see Emma trying to hide her excitement, but she wasn't very good at it.
"Well this truth or dare business you told us gets real, huh?" Enoch mumbled. Mini but the inside of her cheek, "won't you miss your family, or Ricky?"
"I'll miss Ricky, but I doubt he'd miss me. As for my parents, I don't know. I guess I can always go back, right?"
"I guess so, but it dangerous." I said. Mini was sitting next me and squeezed my hand.
"I can kill a hollow." Enoch said triumphantly.
"Reanimate it, but kill it? Fat chance." Mini laughed.
"I'll do it." Jake said, which made Mini laugh harder. She leaned into me and I put my arms around her, lest she fall.
"You haven't even seen one."
"Neither have you!" Emma defended.
"Ok, everyone who's killed a hollow raise your hand." Mini raised her hand like the queen and started laughing again, which made everyone else laugh as well. I love her laugh, it's contagious.
"How did you kill it?" Jake asks.
"Threw it into a wall." She said proudly.
"Was that before or after it kicked your ass for a bit?" Enoch taunted. Mini flipper her middle finger and Jake laughed.
"And then she came in the house, and when I asked her where she was,"
"In a very bitchy tone," Mini added.
"Like I was saying, I asked her where she was and she goes—"
"I fucking killed it."
"Everyone said in unison. Mini giggled and sighed contently, "all it took was a bit of talent." She smiled.
"I'm star—"
"If you say you're starving one more time, Enoch. I'm going to kill you." Horace interrupted.
"Please do."
"We have dinner in an hour, quit being so dramatic." Emma laughed. Just then, we heard a gunshot.
"What the hell!"
Suddenly, an all too familiar bird started to fall from the sky and onto our lawn. There a wounded Miss Peregrine took shape. The sky seemed to turn dark and cold despite the sunny warm day. Fiona scampered down the nearby tree like one of Bronwyn's old squirrels and kneeled next to Miss Peregrine, who was bleeding profusely from her abdomen. I stood on the roof in shock while everyone climbed through Mini's bay window.

Fiona's POV
I kneeled next to Miss Peregrine, who's staggering breath added my anxiety. I heard Emma usher the younger ones back inside with Horace and Enoch. Emma started screaming for Hugh and Victor to help carry her in, but only Victor needed to. I stared at the bloodstained grass as Victor carried her in the house. Millard came barreling down the stairs with sheets, towels, and various bottles of whatever he could find in the medicine cabinet. Miss Peregrine looked pale and lifeless. I heard the younger ones sobbing upstairs and screaming at Enoch and Horace to let them go down and see, but they would budge.
"Fiona, get a basin of warm water!"
I nodded in Millard's general direction and walked swiftly into the kitchen to fill up the basin with my shaking hands. I came back with some kitchen towels as well, but everyone was quiet, and had tears in their eyes. I dropped the water and shook my head at Emma, who only sobbed into Miss Peregrine's hair.
"Get Enoch, he needs to resurrect her while she's fresh." Mini ordered Victor, but he stood as still as stone.
"Fine, I'll do it." Mini flapped her hands as she walked up the stairs. I heard hushed tones followed by hard crying. Olive's metal shoes stomped down the stairs. Emma wiped her tears and put a nearby blanket up to Miss Peregrine's chin to hide the blood.
Olive hugged her head and cried. I swallowed the lump in my throat and silently excused myself into the kitchen, where Jake stood exasperatedly.
"I can't believe this, I think I'm going to be sick."
I helped him sit down and got him a glass of water.
"Were you here as long as Emma?"
I nodded, really she got here first, but technicalities didn't seem to matter right now; not that I would've said anything anyways.
"Do you think she'll hate me?"
I shrugged, Emma's unpredictable.

Yasmini's POV

We took Miss Peregrine into Enoch's lair and laid her down on his medical table. With tears in his eyes, he cut her chest open and brought in the new hearts.
"Will she say anything?" I asked. Enoch shrugged, "hopefully she will."
"Why can't we just let her go?" Said a teary Emma.
"We need to know what killed her."
"There was a bullet." Horace said.
"No you bloody fool, we know it was a gun. But we need to know who shot the gun, an angry villager—"
"But Miss Peregrine always protected herself around them!"
I turned to see Claire and Olive at the top of the stairs.
"Up. Now." I ordered. A single tear fell down Claire's face and my heart softened, "I'll call you two back down then the scary part is over, ok?"
"Scary?" Enoch scoffed looking up from his work. I shot him a glare and he looked back down.
"Ok?"
"Ok."
Enoch nodded to me to show me that he was ready to begin. Miss Peregrine slowly started to rise up. Emma rushed to tie her blouse around her to cover her exposed breasts, and the boys looked down out of respect.
"Miss Peregrine?" Emma asked.
"Emma? What is the matter? Are you sick?" I gasped and stepped back into Victor. Miss Peregrine seemed to register what had happened to her and turned even more pale than she already was, "you must leave, now."
"Why? What happened to you?" Hugh asked.
"Caul, my brother, is here."
"He shot you?"
"He's a wight."
Miss Peregrine seemed to be losing energy, but seemed determined to tell us everything.
"He found my letter from long ago in Abe's home in America, it's my fault, not Jake's. But  you must leave, and never return."
"But what about our house?" Horace whined. Miss Peregrine laid back down stilly.
"Miss Peregrine, please stay longer." Emma sobbed.
"Emma, you've always been my girl."
Sheet out one last sigh and turned back into her stuff self. Emma sobbed onto the floor, "please don't leave me!" She grabbed her dangling arm and hugged it,"you're the only mum I've ever had. Mummy please wake up!" I felt tears stream down my face as I ran up the wooden stairs and slammed the door behind me. Claire and Olive looked at me and I started to sob as I remembered how I forgot to let them say goodbye. I ran down the hall and uo the second staircase and into my room. I dove into my bed while fresh tears dripped onto my pillowcase. I lost everyone already, and now I lost her. And what now? Where do we go? If we stay in this loop time, we'll age day by day, b ur where would we live? How would we live?
I felt bile running into my mouth and threw up into the trash by my bed. I wiped my mouth with a Kleenex and grabbed my backpack from my wardrobe. I stared at the fabric and reminded me of what I lost all those years ago and stuffed every personal item and necessity I could find.
"Mini?"
I turned around and saw Olive and Claire at my door.
"Go pack a bag, bring everything you need because we're not coming back."
The washed out girls nodded and ran down the hall feeling the same sense of urgency I was. I finished my packing and wrapped the bag around my shoulder and glanced out the window, it was getting dark. I ran down what felt like a thousand stairs and into the basement.
"We need to go."
"We can't leave her."
Victor looked at me as if to say, what about Bronwyn?
I shook my head, "Emma, go upstairs and pack."
"Make me." She bit.
"We're going to be as dead as Miss Peregrine if you don't listen!" Enoch said throwing down his instruments. He grabbed his bag and various jars and stuffed them inside.
"All packed."
"Clothes." Horace muttered.
Hugh pulled Fiona's hand along up the stairs followed by Millard and Horace.
"Emma,"
Emma sighed, "I know." She leaned in and hugged Miss Peregrine awkwardly for the last time.
"Goodbye, Mum."
