"I'm guessing your Ma told her about us"
"What?" Janet's confused showed through her eyes, "Why? How? WHY!?"
Janet started to panic, her breathing became shaky and unstable.
"Janet its alright, calm, breathe, follow after me" Katrina began counting as she inhaled and exhaled slowly for Janet to follow."That's it, you're doing great" the other had started to calm down now.
Janet took one last breathe and began to speak to try and figure this whole situation out.
"Okay so Ma told Marie? Oh god... I'm so sorry Katrina I didn't mean-"
"Janet I don't mind, with how your family is, I'm proud of you for being able to keep it a secret for this long," Katrina wrapped her arms around Janet and used a calm tone when speaking to show she wasn't angry, which she wasn't.
"Thank you Katrina" Janet sniffled.
"Let's get a drink and relax, you've had a long day" Katrina got up and made her way to the kitchen for some vodka and wine.
"One more thing, how do I reply to Marie?"
"Reply with something that makes her feel embarrassed because that is what she does to you, here give me the phone," Katrina was handed the phone and began typing. She pressed the send button without Janet seeing what she had said until she turned her screen towards her. The screen read:
Marie🙄
I knew it
Wow, it took you that long?
Janet laughed along with Katrina and they waited for a reply whilst taking sips of their alcohol now and then.
Ping
"That took her long to reply, probably couldn't think of a good comeback," they both laughed again and looked at the phone. Katrina would have responded for Janet again but she didn't need to, it seemed like Marie had accepted her defeat meaning her comeback was absolute shit.
The screen read:
Marie🙄
I knew it
Wow, it took you that long?
Ugh, it's not like you ever told me
"Why the fuck would we just tell her? Sometimes I wonder what goes on in my sister's head," they both giggled and walked back to the living room.
"Hey, do you remember how we got together?" Katrina asked, she obviously did remember but she thought of something they could do to pass time.
"Yea, we were at home and you asked me out...one of the best days of my life" (I know in the other book they were at Carol's but Carol isn't meant to know about them in this book)
"Da, do you remember how you realised I had feelings?"
"The card game, you hesitated so much to answer if you had a crush in the room or not" (if you haven't read my first Janet x Katrina book go check it out because it's kinda like the back story of this)
"Well, how about we bring back those memories and finish the game we started, I won't hesitate this time"
Janet laughed at the remark and nodded in agreement.Even though they were at Janet's house that night, Katrina also had the card game.
The Russian got up from the sofa and made her way to the guest room; it was in a draw in there.
She took the game to the living room and got all of the cards out."Do you want to go first?" Katrina asked presenting the dice to Janet.
"Sure," she rolled it into the wodden table and it landed on 'truth'. Janet took a truth card and read it aloud.
"When was the last time you went on a date with a man?" she thought for a second, "About four months ago, well I hadn't been on a date with him for a few months so I guess about half a year? But I'm in the best relationship I could ask for right now," Janet explained, smiling when she said the end of her sentence.
Katrina smiled back and they continued the game.
Most truths they got, they already knew about each other and most dares they got involved alcohol so both were pretty drunk by 9pm.
Both women fell asleep on each other at about 11pm. Katrina was laying on her back on the sofa and Janet was curled around her like a koala.
They had the whole house to themselves due to Riley being at Chad's for the night and the twins were at Babooshka's house.
The night went by and soon be ame day. Sun rays filled room with natural light as the rain patted on the roof peacefully, creating a safe-feeling atmosphere for everyone in the presence of it.
Janet's closed eyes soon opened slowly, allowing her to see everything and notice that Katrina was there too. She didn't have much of a headache so the rain was actually calming instead of giving her a worse hangover like it usually would.
Janet lay there for about ten minutes until she noticed the other start to fidget meaning she was waking up."Good morning Katrina," her whispered voice sent a comforting feeling through Katrina.
"Morning Janet," she replied in the same tone as the other.
They both lifted up and sat there for a few minutes before going to get a glass of water (vodka for Katrina).
"That was a fun night, we haven't done that in a while," Janet slightly missed the things they used to do as just friends but knew that they would be better when they were mor than that.
"Da we haven't," Katrina walked back to the living room and started tidying up, it didn't take long there was just some cards lying around and a few glasses dotted here and there.
"I better go home to get changed and pick up Riley," Janet said as she began washing one of the glasses they had previously used.
"Da, but could you stay a bit longer?"
"Sure"
Katrina grabbed Janet's hand and pulled her to the sofa. She gripped her chin lightly and pulled the other into a kiss.
They both savoured the moment before pulling away."How about you don't have to get your things again?" Katrina requested confidently.
Janet thought for a second before answering.
