Three Little Birds

Chapter VIII

Narrator's pov

Renée dashed down the long hallway getting to the room fairly quickly, considering the child on her back. She banged on the door until someone answered a little like before. The girls inside were hoping it was (Y/N).

Renée's pov

I was beating on the door and I got a quick response. The door swung open two reveal 3 girls in their pajamas.

"Is it her?"

"No it's Renée with a child on her back."

"No time to explain grab a phone, room key and charger and let's go." I said to them in a stern voice. One girl went back inside and grabbed their things, the other went to the elevators. When we reached the lobby floor, we all ran outside through the lobby. We got some weird looks but we kept running. We reached the cop woman waiting there for me.

"5 minutes and 23 seconds. I gotta tell you that's a new record." I smiled as we jumped in the car.

"Renée, whose kid is that and why are covered in blood? 

"Do you know where (Y/N) is?"

"We haven't seen her all morning."

"Ok this is a lot so I'm gonna explain it all. This is my kid that got kidnapped a couple yeas ago. I found her after she opened the door of a house that had screams coming from it. I live next door to that house. The screams came from a girl who fell down stairs after she was given something called White Water by my kidnapped child. Anyway the girl who fell down the stairs happened to be (Y/N). She has a broken leg as far as I know. Daveed is at the hospital. I think that's all of it." 

"So that's (Y/N)'s blood?" Harper asked. I just nodded.

"Ay, dios mío" Tiana said to herself. We finally arrived at the hospital and she let us out.

"We'll question you later, go be with your friend." I waved and she got in her car and drove off. We all walked in quickly and met Daveed in the waiting room.

"What'd they say?"

"She's in surgery right now. They said she lost a lot of blood."

"She's going to be okay, right Daveed?" Lymani approached him. He grabbed her hand. I put Rosieli on my lap and sat down. We waited a few hours. We were all completely restless. I knew her broken leg wouldn't kill her but her loss of blood could do some damage. I was lost in my thoughts when Rosieli grabbed my attention.

"Goldie, why is he crying?" She looked over at Daveed. He was silent but tears were rolling down his cheeks. I stood up then sat Rosieli in my chair.

"Rosie, if someone comes looking for me press this button and I'll come back. Stay here with her." I showed her a button on my phone that was connected to my watch. I turned to Lymani.

"Don't let anything happen to my kid or so help me god, you will be in surgery with your sister." She looked up at me and nodded. I walked over to where Daveed was sitting.

"Come on Diggs, let's take a walk."

"What if she needs me and I'm not here? I can't go right now, Renée. I just can't leave her." He started crying more.

"They are going to tell me if anything changes. We won't go far." I put my hand out and he grabbed it and stood up. We walked over to a vending machine. I bought him a Gatorade and a pack of cookies. We sat down on a bench next to the machine.

"You need to eat and hydrate." I said handing him the drink. He wouldn't take it.

"We aren't walking back until you take a sip of this." I gave him a serious look. He took the drink out of my hand and took a big gulp of it.

"Thanks" He muttered. He started crying again. I hugged him.

"Renée, I love her. I said something stupid so she probably thinks I don't but I do. I want to shout out for the world to hear. I want to tell her and she won't get to hear it." He buried his face in his hands.

"Daveed, she knows. We always know. She is going to wake up and you are going to tell her how you feel." I assured him. He looked up and hugged me. My watch started vibrating.

"Let's go, Diggs." He stood up and grabbed his cookies and juice. I rushed off, him following behind me.

We reached the waiting area and there stood a doctor. He held a tablet and he had a weird look on his face.

"Doctor?" He turned to me then looked over at an out of breath Daveed, standing next to me.

"She's out of surgery. She did amazing. She's asking for Three but we can't quite figure out what she wants 3 of. Do any of you know?" Everyone looked around. Not even Tiana and Harper could figure it out. Rosieli climbed out of the chair and walked over to the doctor as fast as she could.

"I'm Three." I looked at her.

"No baby, you are 4 years old." She shook her head.

"No Goldie, I'm Three. She wants me." The doctor looked at me.

"We can try it" I picked up Rosieli and followed the doctor to (Y/N).

(Y/N)'s pov

I was sitting in my hospital bed, listening to the constant beeps that were keeping me alive. The door opened and in walked the doctor.

"Three?"

"We got something but we don't know what you mean by that." He told me. He moved over and Renée walked in. She was holding the kid I knew as Three.

"'Née?" I said. She smiled.

"She can only vocalize one syllable words for right now." He told her.

"'Née, Three, Kay?" I said slowly.

"Yes, she is okay and you saved her life." Renée said.

"She, mine." I said quicker than before.

"(Y/N), this is Rosieli. She's my daughter. She got kidnapped a couple years ago and you are the reason why she is back with me."

"Ro-rosie?" I said slower, trying to say more. 

"That's my real name." Rosieli said enthusiastically. I looked around a bit.

"'Née's blood?" I asked concerned. She looked down at her still bloody outfit.

"No this is your blood. We found you."

"Haz-zel, Har-rper, Tia, Dav-v-veed?" I sounded out.

"They're in the waiting room. Do you want me to get them?" She asked me. I nodded and she walked out, a tiny Rosieli waddling behind her.

 Daveed's pov

Renée walked out tearfully with a huge smile on her face.

"She wants to see you guys" Rosieli said from behind her mother.

"All of us?" I asked.

"Yes Diggs, she wants to see you too. But she wants to see you last. Lymani is up first. Then Harper and Tiana, then you." Lymani got up and walked to (Y/N)'s room. After about 10 minutes she left the room crying. Renée got up and ran over to her. She could barely walk. She sat her next to Rosieli.

"Rosie, why don't you play with Lymani for a bit." She said to her.

"Mani?" She pointed at Lymani. Lymani just nodded. Tiana and Harper stood up and held hands. They both walked to the room. They stayed in the room for nearly 20 minutes then it was my turn.

"It's okay Diggs. Tell her how you feel." Renée told me. I was gonna do just that. I stood up and walked down the hallway. When I reached door I took a deep breath then turned the knob.
