Three Little Birds

Chapter XXXII

Narrator's pov

Today is a no show day. Rosie and Sebastian wanted to go to the aquarium but Oak is allergic to the cleaner so Lin and Vanessa took them. Renée and Oak are convinced that something is wrong with her.

Renée's pov

"Hi, I know you're probably busy but I need an ultrasound as soon as possible" I said into my phone.

"Today is a slow day so you can come in but can I ask why need an ultrasound?"

"Because I keep feeling things and I need to know why so I can stop going mad every time it happens"

"Okay, but you have to be here in 30 minutes" Dr. Paferra stated.

"Okay, thanks" I hung up and looked the man who sat on the bed in front of me.

"She said be there in 30 minutes and she can do it" He smiled.

"Well it's 29 now so let's go" He lifted me up and carried me out the room.

"Put me down!" I laughed. He ran us all the way out to the car and put me on the seat. He ran around and hopped in the car.

~at the hospital~

The doctor put the gel on my stomach and picked up the ultrasound wand. I took a deep breath and grabbed Oak's hand. Dr. Paferra turned on the monitor and rubbed the wand across the cold jelly. I turned my head in fear. I couldn't watch.

"You... You're pregnant with twins girls"

"What?" Oak and I said at the same time. My head snapped back towards the screen and sure enough there was 2 babies. They were holding hands and one was sucking her thumb.

"Oak, Baby there's 2 of them" I said through tears. Oak placed a kiss on my forehead.

She moved the wand and pressed a button.

The doctor took a few pictures and then handed me an napkin. I got off of the table and hugged Oak.

"Pictures?" I turned to Dr. Paferra who stood there holding what looked to be 3 pictures from the ultrasound. I took 1 and Oak took the other 2. I looked at them as a tear fell down my face.

"JP, why was I bleeding? Are the babies okay?" I asked her.

"I want to run some tests just to make sure but they both seem to be just fine. I'm guessing those pains in your stomachs were those strong little ladies kicking" I smiled at the words. I looked at Oak and he seemed to be worried.

"It's going to be fine. Just a few machines and a few needles and then it's over" He nodded. Dr. Paferra left and came back with a gown and a cup. I shuddered a bit.

"Gown. Urine. Go" I headed off for the bathroom to change and then...pee in a cup.

Oak's pov

Renée was off for the restroom when the doctor stopped my overthinking.

"It's going to be okay, I'm going to do a blood test and then I'm going to use a machine which basically takes a picture of Renée and shows me if there are any problems and another that shows me if there's anything wrong in her brain. Then it's over." She explained it all out for me. It made it better to hear it all. Renée danced back down the hall to some music playing over the speakers.

"I got your pee Dr. Paferra" Renée put the cup on a counter with a big green sticker labeled 'urine test'. She came back over and put her arm around me.

"You ready?" I asked her. She nodded and we followed after the doctor to start the series of test. When we went to get Renée's blood it was so difficult.
