Annabeth Chase

Today was my lucky day, I had tutoring. I had no idea how two dyslexic people were gonna get through algebra 2 but I guess we would figure it out.

Talking to Percy last night about how to bring Katelyn to camp was useless. Neither of us could think of anything without her probably thinking we were crazy kidnappers or something.

"Annie!" I cringed. I hated that nickname. When I turned around I saw Penelope walking towards me.
I put on the fakest smile I could so that I didn't blow my cover.

"Penelope! Oh my goodness your outfit looks amazing today! Loving the heels!" Heels were against the dress code because they were loud and distracting, but Penelope and her friends, which now included me I guess, wore them anyway.

In the corner of my eye, I saw Katelyn walking from the direction of the library. Penelope followed my eyes, spotted Katelyn, and waved her over.

"Katelyn! Over here!" Katelyn looked like she would rather jump off of a bridge than talk to us.

Since Katelyn didn't come to us, Penelope went to her.

"Have I ever told you how much I love your name? And the way it's spelled? So gorg," Katelyn looked like she was suffocating. Penelope, not noticing her discomfort, continued, "I heard you're staying here now so we can totally have a sleepover over at my dorm," she said with a sickeningly sweet smile. "Just the two of us." The way that Penelope said this was very suspicious. A kind of hungry light in her eyes made me uncomfortable.

"Maybe Penelope, but you know I get tired pretty easily. Wouldn't be much fun," Penelope's smile faltered a bit as if she was thinking about how best to persuade her without looking suspicious.

"Oh, that's too bad. Well, you'll be sitting with us at lunch won't you?" Penelope was making puppy dog eyes.

"Fine whatever," Katelyn answered.

"Yay! See you later bestie," Penelope sauntered away. Katelyn looked like she was trying not to throw up. As the rest of us walked away to follow Penelope, I caught Katelyn's eye. She quickly looked away as if disturbed by my presence. It was different than when she didn't like me. Now it was like I scared her.

No matter how many years I have to go here I will forever hate school. People always think that I'll enjoy school because I love learning new things, but school is not fun with ADHD and dyslexia. Plus the people always annoy me.

Now it was lunch and it was pizza and chicken tenders. I was so happy about that. Then I remembered I had to sit with Penelope and my mood dampened a bit. At least Katelyn would be there to keep us on our toes.

I got my lunch and sat down at the table. Soon after Katelyn sat next to me. After that Penelope joined the group and started talking in her high-pitched voice.

"Have you guys seen the new guy on the swim team? Transfer students am I right?" She giggled, "I heard his name was Percy. Such an attractive name. Do you think he'd like me?" I bit hard into my chicken tenders and tried to keep calm.

"I think I'm gonna ask him out. We could go to the movies maybe he'd put his arm around me! You never know!" I in fact did know and Penelope was making it very hard to keep quiet.

"I heard he has a girlfriend," I blurted before thinking. Everyone was looking at me so I continued, "I think she goes to the school downtown. Alyssa, I think her name is?" Penelope's smile quickly disappeared.

"Oh. Well good for her I guess. I mean only whores go to the school downtown so she'll definitely end up cheating sooner or later," I almost choked on my pizza. Katelyn took note of my reaction and was probably gonna ask about it during tutoring.

After that, we moved on. Talking about school or something like that. I was barely listening.

And that's all for today folks. Next chapter will be coming soon I swear. Hope you enjoyed it. But real talk. Penelope. So weird right? And Katelyn being "scared"? I didn't think anything scared her.

Until next time (which won't be five months this time)
