A little author's note before we start. First off please comment on this. I really like seeing people's ideas and thoughts on the chapters. Even if you're teasing me I wanna see it. This is going to be the first chapter that has multiple POVs we'll be switching between Katelyn and Annabeth a lot during this. Also, I will be talking about dyslexia a lot in this chapter and how people deal with it and everything. Not all of this is verified so apologies if I'm completely off.
"and it feels like, i'm gonna know you for the rest of my life" - we might even be falling in love, victoria monet
Katelyn Sullivan
Lunch had been... weird. Yeah, that was the word. Weird. Penelope was being a bitch, but that wasn't the weird part. The weird part was Annabeth. She was currently stabbing her food with her fork (like jeez what did chicken tenders ever do to her?) and had been that mad since Penelope mentioned that boy Percy or whatever. It was odd but I guess she was just jealous? I don't even know. Even though I still didn't want to talk to her, I noticed that both of us had tuned out the conversation around us and decided to ask why she was so mad.
"Annabeth," she looked over my way, "Are you okay? You've been massacring your chicken tenders and pizza for like ten minutes now."
She smiled a bit. "I'm good thank you. Just kind of tired, but I'm so excited for our tutoring session later today! It's going to be so much fun!"
And she ruined it. I had finally worked up the courage to talk to her and she ruined it with her perkiness. I cringed and she most definitely noticed.
"Right. So much fun. Can't wait." I probably sounded dead.
Annabeth deflated a bit but I really didn't know what she had expected. I was not excited to be around her perky self, doing math no less, for an hour. Honestly, I didn't even think this through, how was I supposed to teach her algebra 2 with dyslexia. It just wasn't going to work.
Annabeth Chase
This was absolutely not going to work. I was fooling myself. Two dyslexic people trying to work through algebra 2? Absolutely not. At least I had made the decision to tone down the perk for the hour. I knew if I kept it up Katelyn would run away.
At long last, it was study hall. I was terrified but determined. I had one goal: get to know her a bit and keep my cover intact at the same time. Well, two goals I guess.
"Annabeth! Over here!" I looked over to Katelyn waving at me near the library. Wow, she really loved the library.
"Hey! Studying in here?" I asked
"Yeah. All the study rooms are taken so here we are," she shrugged.
"Cool," I took a deep breath to steel my nerves, "Let's get started I guess."
"Alrighty then. Let's start out with some easier stuff." She slid a piece of paper with a single problem on it towards me. "Just solve for x and tell me when you're done."
So I solved for x. It was a pretty simple problem I was just hoping I didn't read it completely incorrectly. The thing with algebra is that it's not words. Your brain can put the numbers in any order and it could be a while before you realize it's wrong.
(AN/ I don't actually know if that's true it hasn't been verified so if you have dyslexia and this isn't true lmk)
I gave it back to her so that she could check it. Katelyn's handwriting was very large so that was helpful.
"Okay then! You got it right congrats. I guess we can move on to some harder stuff now," She said brightly.

The rest of the session went on very well. I didn't make any big slip-ups. I had no idea how we did it so at the end I decided to ask her.
"Sorry if this is rude but how can you see the problem? I mean with your dyslexia and all," I asked timidly.
"Oh, the graph paper helps me. And I always make sure the squares are big so I can still see it kinda clearly," she answered.
"Oh! Cool. Good to know," I smiled at her. Looks like that method worked for me too.
(AN/ Yes another author's note I'm sorry. Anyways I'm just trying to say that I know not one size fits all but after some research, I found this method. I'm really just trying not to offend anyone.)
"So are we scheduling another session? Or am I Einstein now?" I said jokingly.
"Far from it," she chuckled, "but actually you did really well. Honestly, I don't really think you need another session, as much as it pains me to say." She smiled a bit. She looked a bit sad which surprised me a bit. It was weird to think that we had bonded over a tutoring session, especially after our rough start.
"Well then. I guess we're done. Thanks for all the help." I started to walk away.
"Wait!" I turned to her, "Do you wanna maybe hang out tonight? A sleepover I guess?" She blushed slightly.
I was shocked. I guess the session really helped.
"Sure. Your place?" I guess turning down the perk really helped.
"Yeah. Cool," she answered. "Well, I guess see you tonight." She walked away before I could answer.
I was happy. Everything was going well.
And we are done! This is currently my longest chapter(which is probably why it took so long to write). I haven't really had any Percy POVs and tbh I kinda don't wanna give him one. Like honestly his opinion isn't really needed (that sounds so mean 😭). But anyways yeah next chapter should be coming in like two weeks maybe idk.
