Billies POV

“He kissed you on the beach?!” I roll my head back in laughter, punching my fist on the restaurant table. Sapphire folds her arms over, an embarrassed flush covering her face.

“Shouldn’t have even told you” She mutters, looking down.

“Aww c’mon Saphy… I’m happy for you” I reach over the table and grab hold of her shoulder. She tilts her head up, a cute smile on her face. I smile on her behalf. Yeah, she seems a lot happier then how she was a couple weeks ago.

“He’s just so- just so…” She stares out the window, biting her lip. I swear her eyes were sparkling by the way she was talking about him. “Nice” She lets out a sigh.

“Nice?” I laugh. “That’s literally the first word that came to your head?”

“I don’t know, I’m not used to this” Sapphire stares back down at the table again.

I know I was probably too harsh on the dude from when I first saw him. I just automatically thought that she would go spend time with him. Selfish, I know. I will try and get to know him, for Sapphire. And only for Sapphire. I wouldn’t give him a second glance if it wasn’t for her. I just hope he isn’t some asshole poser, like he looks like.

“Everything is just gonna go up from here” I grin. I truly believed it, and it had nothing to do with Michael and Sapphire. Mike and Tre are gonna get here, we’re gonna play and (hopefully) get signed, then finally we can get out of here and actually do something with our lives. When I look up at Sapphire, she seems to be sending me a… sad smile?

The thing about her, whenever she was happy, she never looked 100% happy. It might just be me, but I feel like there’s something going on that she’s not telling me.

“You ready to get out of here?” She finally says, nodding her head towards the door. I nod, throwing some cash on the table before making my way towards the door. “Thank you!” Sapphire calls out to the waitress.

Sapphire was definitely too nice.

I laugh while shaking my head, earning a strange look from her.

“Where do you wanna go now?” I ask, kicking a rock down the sidewalk.

“When I was at the beach yesterday with Michael, there was a cool pier. Go there?” Sapphire smiles to the ground. I stare at her with confusion on my face. Everything we talked about seemed to go back to her and Michael. I swear to God, if he hurts her in any way I’ll smash him.

“Sure” I reply, still staring at her as we head in the direction.

---

“I fucking hate sand” I murmur, trudging along the sinking, uneven ground. Sapphire giggles before walking on a head of me. “Hey, wait up” I begin to move faster, becoming more annoyed by the sand every step.

Soon, the sand turned into wood and we were now walking down the pier. The wind blows Sapphires long hair back, making her close her eyes and smile again. I can’t help but smile when she smiles. She has a very contagious smile. And a very contagious laugh. Oh, her laugh. The way she laughs with her whole body, either tilting her head back or leaning forward and slapping her hand against her knee. Her whole face lit up and it almost felt like she was giving off energy. She just seems to give off good vibes everywhere she went.

“Hurry up douche bag!” She calls from the edge of the peer. I stick the finger up, using my other hand to hoist my backpack strap higher on my shoulder. I jog a little to catch up with her, before joining her on sitting down on pier. I watch her sway her legs over the water, her wristbands and bracelets jingling on her left arm. I don’t know how she wears so many without getting annoyed with them. It seems like she never takes them off.
