Billies POV

Are you locked up in a world, that's been planned out for you?

Are you feeling like a social tool without a use?

Scream at me until my ears bleed,

I'm taking heed just for you

We finish the song, the crowd erupting into cheers around us. I close my eyes, taking in the emotions around me. That song and Longview probably were the most popular. I felt so alive on stage. Unstoppable, confident, like I could do anything. I was definitely at my happiest level at the moment. Here I am, my two best friends on stage, and the other supporting me, playing on stage in front of the biggest mass of people. I haven’t felt like I was filled with this much joy since I got that email. I turn around, the boys flashing huge grins at me. I flash one back, pushing a hand through my sweaty hair. We would only play one more song, that being Longview. It was obviously a crowd favourite.

I turn back around, my eyes immediately springing to find Sapphire. I couldn’t wait to see the huge smile on her face. Ever since I told her about me writing She for her, she’s never able to keep a smile off her face when the song is played. But, I am taken aback when I see the sight of Sapphire.

She’s hugging someone.

Someone with soft, blonde hair.

Someone with icy, blue eyes.

Hayley.

My lips part in shock, and my eyes widen. What’s she doing here? She’s mean to be in Thailand? Isn’t there bad blood between her and Sapphire?

I stare at them, for who knows how long. They finally break the hug and go into what looks like a conversation. I swallow hard, my dazed eyes staring intently at the two girls. Do you think she heard what I said about the song?

Fuck, that doesn’t even matter. I cheated on her anyway.

“Billie? Dude, are you okay?” Mike shakes me by the shoulder, breaking me out of my train of thought. I nod quickly, fumbling my sweaty hands over the guitar. I wasn’t going to be able to perform knowing Hayley’s in the crowd.

“W- We’ve one last song for tonight” I stutter, trying to stop my eyes from wondering over to the girls. A wave of boo’s and aww’s come up from the crowd, making the smile return to my face. Soon, the crowd almost completely changes emotion as Mike begins the bass line.

“This one’s called Longview!” I raise a fist, listening to the roar of cheers. I put my head down as I start to sing the lyrics. This was the last song for tonight, the last chance to show C-Corp that we were good enough to get signed. I couldn’t let Hayley be a distraction to me. By the end of the night, she probably won’t even be in my life.

I play with all my heart, my complete concentration making the crowd almost fade away. I am focused on playing, nothing else. It can’t distract me. She can’t distract me.

Bite my lip and close my eyes, I was slipping away to paradise.

Some say, "Quit or I'll go blind." But it's just a myth.

I finish the last line of the song, my lungs struggling for oxygen. I shake my hair, feeling droplets of sweat hit the ground. The crowds’ cheers and screams are deafening. I grin, raising my arms for the last time. I feel Tre and Mike stand next to me, and we all bend over to take a bow.

Tre snatches a red bra, which was thrown on stage and slips it over his body. He chucks his drum sticks into the audience, which they tackle each other for. They looked like a swarm of seagulls grabbing for food.
