It had become night fast. Techno and Tommy had both made their way to bed and Phil was on the couch with Wilbur who was half awake. They had been watching late night tv which included crime shows. After a few moments, the brunette passed out and Phil took this opportunity to go upstairs. He first checked on the two boys who appeared asleep. Yet Phil could tell they were too worried to rest but there wasn't much he could do about that. Phil continued into his room sitting on his bed staring at the jars lined on his table, all lined with thin layers of coins. He sighed rubbing his face, exhausted.

The jars had scribbled on labels barely readable even by the man who made them. Phil pulled a handful of coins from his pocket, todays earnings. He dropped them into the first jar, nearly halfway full. Sitting back down he felt awful. He felt like it was his fault all this treachery was happening to the boys. And for what? For empty jars? Empty promises. A thud came from downstairs waking Phil from his trance of self-doubt. He rushed downstairs to find Wilbur laying on the floor groaning. He had most likely tried to move but his body being too weak caused him to collapse. Phil knelt beside the boy and helped him onto his lap.

"Sorry..." Wilbur slurred as he slumped inwards, head nested in Phil's chest.

"Sh~," Phil murmured rubbing his back. "It's not your fault mate." Wilbur had soon gone limp in the adult's embrace. Phil heaved a sigh as he carried the brunette back to the couch where they were earlier. And they didn't move for the rest of the night.

Tommy awoke with a shudder. The window being open wasn't pleasant this far into winter. Nonetheless he got up and ready for school. Once dressed in his uniform he made his way downstairs to find what he didn't want to see again. Phil looked exhausted. Yet he was there in the kitchen making some toast. Techno was at the benchtop looking at Tommy with a tired glare. Then there was Wilbur passed out on the couch a blanket draped lazily over him as he snored quietly. Tommy winced inwards at the sight. Phil noticed him and smiled.

"Hey mate how are ya?" Phil yawned trying and failing to cover it. Tommy nodded and Phil saddened. "He's gonna be okay Tommy." Techno nodded subconsciously.

"Okay..." Tommy ate his toast quickly and he had a few minutes before he had to go to school.

"I'll take ya today Tommy," Techno smiled, and Tommy beamed with the opportunity to take his oldest brother to show off his school. Tommy raced for the door. Techno followed behind him a bit slower and said his farewell to Phil. Tommy yelled out his goodbye. Entering the snow-covered town the two walked in silence for a few paces.

"My teacher is so epic!" Tommy exclaimed to Techno. "She's so nice and I'm sure she can help-"

"Help?" Techno interrupted. "With what?"

"With Wilbur," Tommy didn't realise Techno had stopped until a couple moments later. "What?"

"We don't need other's help, Tommy," Techno smiled at the boy. "Besides Wilbur will be fine tomorrow."

"But he's not better at all!" Tommy complained. "I figured he most likely had gotten worse!" Techno sighed shaking his head.

"He will be okay," the pinkette walked beside Tommy now, the school coming into eyesight. "Lets just keep it on the down low for a while, okay?" Tommy seemed less inclined but nodded anyways. "Have a good day at school!" Tommy smiled and ran off spotting Tubbo and some of his friends. And Techno treaded his way back home. Tommy's school day started nearly as soon as he arrived. Making his way to his class the teacher greeted him on the way in.

"Good morning Tommy," she smiled, and he smiled back still a bit clouded by the home environment.

"Mornin," Tommy made his way to his desk next to his best friends Tubbo and Ranboo. He knew Tubbo from the marketplace and such and had met Ranboo when he started school as they were both new. Both of his besties were talking quite a bit, but Tommy wasn't keen to chat today. The teacher had picked up on it immediately and figured she would have a chat to Tommy after first period. They flew by maths and Tommy found it to be a useful distraction from the dreadful pit in his body. He was going to head off to lunch when his teacher stopped him.
