-Flashback-

I stood in a corner, observing my parents from a distance socialising with politicians and another businessman who approached them. I have always hated gatherings like this. Adults talking about complicated things that a 10-year-old like me couldn't understand. Ryan is here with me, that's a good thing. I gazed at Ryan who is now taking me food then I looked at the dress that I'm wearing. Mum loves making me wear red dresses. Complete with a white pearl hairband for head accessory Jessabelle loves red, but I've never seen her wear it even once. It's so weird.. Maybe it's not compatible to her. I don't really know...

Ryan was finally done with the food and he was about to come my way when a group of  ladies crowd over to him. Like always... I sighed and went to the balcony to get some fresh air also escaping the many gazes of acquaintances who have obvious intentions of starting a conversation with me. it's hard being the child of a famous businessman. Everyone masks their true intentions with kind exteriors. Everything is just an act.

I learnt that the hard way. The maid that took care of me, the one that I grew to love and be fond of attempted to kidnap me. Even blood ties couldn't stop greed. My favourite uncle tried to cheat my mum off her land and left her to cry afterwards when she found out. She had issues trusting people again after that. Money...all because of money.

"You're hiding here too?" I turned around to see a blonde haired boy entering the balcony. He has the most beautiful emerald eyes I've ever seen. I can't help but stare. His long fringe covered his right eye. He could pass as a girl. " You're Ferlicia right? The daughter of Mr Arkinson?" He continued looking at me curiously.

I nod and looked away. He is just like the rest of them.

"It must be hard right?" He came into the veranda and stood next to me then continued "not knowing who to trust and doubting everyone that tries to get to know you."

I looked at him in surprise. He was looking at the moon. I felt comfortable with him. For some reason, he seemed sad. He has that look Ryan has when his parents fought. I wanted to hug this person." You can have my candy." I smiled while holding out my candy.

This person was stunned not expecting my response. "Ryan always said  that when you're sad, just eat the bunny apple. Its sweetness will take away your pain. I can't cut for you the apple now so a candy will have to make do for now. I'll ask Ryan to cut it for you the next time we meet!"

"I see." The boy took the candy and smiled. See, bunny candy apple  do make people smile! "So we will meet again...."

The last thing he said was almost a whisper. It was hard to make out what he was saying in the end. Before I could ask, Ryan entered the veranda along with my parents.

"Geez Felly, don't disappear like that!! You made me worried..." I apologised to my mum and she went on to adjust my headband. My dad looked at the boy and smiled.

"I see you have met my daughter Callum." Oh. so his name is Callum... My dad went over to him putting his hand on Callum's shoulders then looked at me " You two be good friends alright?"
