The doctors didn't see it. His mother didn't see it. The nurses didn't see it. Why would they, when they knew everything about him? His mother knew him best, but the doctors had delivered him, and looked after him until his mother woke up. There was nothing to know about him, he'd only been alive for 2 hours.
Everyone else saw it though. They didn't even know the little information about him there was.
The receptionist, the visitors, the other patients at the hospital.
*That baby is a monster.*
______________
Izuku heard his mother tut in the kitchen."We're out of rice.." she muttered.
Izuku closed his laptop, cutting his homeschooling short.
"I can go down to the shop and get some!" He called.
Inko turned around, worry etched into her face.
"Izuku, are you sure? You know how everyone will react..." She said.
Izuku nodded.
"I can wear the bracelets." He said.
At Inko's frown, Izuku rushed to reassure her.
"I'll be gone five minutes at the most! I know you don't like them, but I won't be wearing them for long, I promise!" He said quickly.
Inko sighed, nodding to her eager son.
"Alright. But five minutes only!" She said sternly. "They're not good for you!"
Izuku beamed, running up to his room and pulling out his virtually unworn quirk suppressors. They were military grade, they had to be. Even with the strength of the bracelets his quirk still managed to push its way through him.
Being the strongest kind of quirk suppressant, the bracelets could permanently damage the quirk factor if worn for too long. It could make a person's quirk unpredictable, and even dangerous to the user themselves.
Izuku only put them on when he was outside, walking down the street.
A few people gasped and stared at him as he passed, only growing confused a few seconds later. Izuku could only grimace, and give them an apologetic look.
Izuku hadn't been outside on his own for ages! He often stayed at home, exercising in the living room, and doing his schoolwork online.
He got a little over excited when he got to go outside, even with all of the fearful gazes.
Everyone feared something. The man standing on the corner typing on his phone feared death. He chocked on his drink when Izuku's quirk pushed through, giving the man a glimpse of the reaper's hooded skull, flowing black robes and bloody scythe.
The elderly gentleman at the counter feared the gang that had popped up in the area, and had started terrorising smaller shops like this one. He flinched when Izuku's form flickered into one of a taller man with a stereotypical snake tattoo and armless biker jacket. Izuku rolled his eyes at that.
No gang nowadays would be caught dead dressed like that. But that was how the elderly gentleman imagined them.
So that's what Izuku became.
The green haired boy bought the rice alongside an apology to the man. He walked back down the road home, and back through the underpass.
A squelching, slithering sound made Izuku turn.
"A medium sized skinsuit, perfect to hide in! Come here kid!" The sludge monster said, lunging forwards.
Izuku frowned.
All Might was chasing the villain. The villain's greatest fear was prison in a bottle, but at the moment All Might was occupying most of the 'Fearspace' in the Villain's mind.
Izuku slipped the quirk suppressants off his wrists, becoming All Might in all of his glory. He grinned.
"Halt, villain! I've got you now!" Izuku said through All Might's vocal chords.
The villain panicked, backing towards the manhole he emerged from.
All Might popped up through the manhole, with a Detroit smash already going strong.
"Detroit smash!" The real All Might exclaimed.
Izuku felt the mirage fade into someone new as the sludge villain was knocked unconscious.
He was as tall as All Might still, but the illusion was solid. Far more solid than any he'd experienced before.
All for One. Whoever he was, he terrified All Might to the point that Izuku had everything. Looks, expressions, voice, movements, gait, speech patterns, quirk..s?
Quirks plural?
Izuku's eyes widened. No wonder All Might was afraid of this man. He had hundreds, no, thousands of quirks.
All Might finished collecting up the villain, and turned to Izuku. When he saw him however, his expression became one of hoodie, then fear, then rage.
"Wait All Might! My quirk is called Fearmonger! I'm not who you think I am! It's just an illusion! My name is Izuku Midoriya, I'm 14 years old! I was born on the 5th of July, 20XX! My favourite food is Katsudon! I live in Musutafu with my mother, and don't go to school because of my quirk! I'm homeschooled, and am ahead by a significant margin in my academics! I love heroes, and enjoy studying their quirks! You're my favourite hero of all time, and my inspiration! I want to become a hero, just like you! My hair is curly and black with green highlights, like my mother's! My eyes are green too, and I've got weird freckles on my face!" Izuku said.
All Might now knew quite a lot about Izuku, whether he wanted to listen to 'All for One' or not. The illusion flickered before his eyes, revealing the very person All for One had described standing in his place, with a wide eyed gaze. The illusion solidified back into place.
All Might sighed.
"My apologies Young Midoriya... The man who you look like right now.. is the most terrible villain of all time. I'm sorry for jumping to conclusions." He said while bowing.
"Please don't apologise. It's my fault for taking off the quirk suppressants to scare the villain.. I can't turn it off myself." Izuku explained.
"And I understand why you'd be afraid of All for One. He's got thousands of quirks."
All Might's eyes widened.
"You have.. his quirks?" He asked.
Izuku nodded.
"If someone's fear of something is strong enough I gain everything about them, their mannerisms, habits, speech patterns.. and quirks. Or at least, how the person imagines it, if they fear death or some kind of Eldrich being. Which is also the default look, if my quirk can't personify someone's fear, like heights or open water." He explained.
Izuku glanced at his watch, cursing to himself.
"Mum's going to kill me! I'm sorry All Might, I have to go!" Izuku exclaimed, leaving the stunned hero standing in the underpass.
