The new kid

Yumeko's Pov:

Today had been a normal day although there was a new desk next to mine that was empty. but I did see that there was a ton of the teacher's stuff on it. So I figured she was just using it as a place to put her other stuff, But the next day, all of the stuff had been taken off the desk. Now I'm not sure where she put her stuff but it didn't matter to me.

I was about to talk to mary until the teacher wanted everyone's attention. We all look at her and she announces that we have a new student that's come from Egypt. and that she will be coming to the school tomorrow. Everyone was super intrigued I already know that she will be bombarded with questions. But then I couldn't wait for tomorrow and it seemed as if the time couldn't go fast enough.

(time skip to the next day)

(Still Yumekos Pov:)

today finally came its weird how I'm so excited to meet somebody I might not even want to be friends with. But I still am super excited I made sure I looked my best and I went on my way to school. and unfortunately, somebody ended up bumping into me I look behind me to see none other than Midari

I roll my eyes and walk off but then she gets up and says "HEY YUMEKO DO YOU WANNA GAMBLE AGAIN !!!" I  ignore her and walk off and then I get to class. 20 minutes later, the teacher walks out of the classroom and then comes back in with a new kid that nobody had ever seen. and I almost couldn't take my eyes off her.

she had tan skin and these braids that just hung down (box braids)  hair went down to half her back and she had brown eyes  she was a decent height she a little bit shorter than everyone else but she was still pretty tall though and her shoes were shiny

She then goes hi everyone my name is Maya Ahmed And I hope we can all be friends and she sat at the empty desk next to me and then the teacher started on with class

(Time skip to lunch break also Maya Pov:)

I had just got to japan and was loving everything about it and it was so cool and I got to go to so many cool places and it was just wonderful. But then my Aunt said that I had to start going to school tomorrow and I was excited but nervous and then my aunt and I did my hair in box braids the day before since they took a long time to do, and then I had put on my uniform and headed to school. When I got there I saw all sorts of people looking at me and it felt weird. And then they started asking me all these questions

why is your skin like that?

where are you from?

what grade are you in?

why are you so short?

what grade are you in?

are you single?

I'm starting to get nervous with all these people asking me these personal questions, and not giving me personal space. then some Goldilocks wannabe looking chick comes over. And everyone except the girl I was sitting next to seems seems scared and starts to move away and give me space. "Hi I'm Mary Saotome would you like to gamble with me"
"Sure I don't see why not"
Mary smiles at me but it looks fake.

(Yumeko gave her space but she wasn't scared of Mary tho)

Then everyone in the class starts redecorating the room. The the black haired girl I sat next to was standing next to some brown haired boy who looked very worried. About 5 minutes later everyone is done, and lot of people with these weird tags start gathering around the table me and Mary we about to play on. The chairs are on opposite sides and the lights are dimmed. The black haired girl stood behind me but to my right but also distanced herself.

Mary sat down and started explaining the rules and how to play, but I'm still pissed that we're playing Rock Paper Scissors with CARDS. Like who in their right mind does something so stupid? But then she asks me how many chips to bet. "hmm let's start with 5 chips."  she looks a little surprised but agrees to it.  Then we draw our cards I put down a scissors while Mary put paper. She slides me 5 of her chips and congratulated me. I smile and say thank you. then she asks me how much I want to gamble again. "Why not bet 10 chips this time"

Mary looked shocked for a second and then goes back to this fake smile. But for some reason the gamble starts to feel off. Like I didn't care at first but all the kids seem to have somber expressions. But I can't tell why. but then the box where were supposed to pick our cards from comes around. But I get the same card three times it's all scissors.

Now I'm suspicious about this game. but we draw our cards and Mary places rock while I can only place scissors. And I slide Mary 10 of my chips. And Mary laughs at me but i don't care as of now. I just want to see is she was cheating or if I had bad luck. So I go back to betting 5 chips. And the I take out my mirror but barley anyone can see it and in the corner of my mirror, a random brown haired girl is making a rock sign with her hands. and now I know she was cheating...
