RECAP
" Who are you?"
***
Sophie looked up to see a girl that looked her age. She had brown hair and a unique shade of blue eyes.
" Oh sorry I'm Sophie. Who are you?"Sophie said while looking at how beautiful the girl looked.
"I'm Biana Vacker. Nice to meet you Sophie." Biana said while looking at what Sophie was wearing. The dress Biana had on looked so much nicer than Sophie's bland yellow T-shirt that said Be Happy and her light blue ripped jeans.
"Well, I'm going to borrow Sophie real fast and then you should probably talk to her Alden. That is only if you think she's the one." Elwin said.
" Yeah, I'm pretty sure she is and since she is only 12 in human years and 13 in elf years she shouldn't have manifested yet." Alden said.
" What's manifest." Sophie asked.
" It's when elves get their talent. For example I'm a Telepath and I'm the youngest to manifest." Fitz said proudly.
Telepath... I can't let them know... I've never told anyone before. Sophie thought.
She was in a daze when Fitz asked her something, "Hey Sophie you good."
" Oh uh yeah." Quickly trying to change the subject "C'mon Elwin let's go get this check up." Sophie said trying to sound enthusiastic, but failing at it.
"I thought you were dreading that" both Elwin and Alden said at the same time.
"Change of mind I guess." Sophie said trying to hide the fact she was still dreading the check up.
" Umm... am I invisible?!? Actually that would be nice to manifest younger than Fitz, but seriously what are you guys talking about." Biana said reminding them she was there.
"That's classified Biana" Alden said.
"Ok Sophie let's get this done fast." Elwin said while leading her to another room.
Sophie followed Elwin into a sparkling room with a glass domed ceiling.
"Don't worry it's one way glass. Only we can see outside and anyways no one is here. It's gated property that goes on for acres." Elwin said.
Sophie stayed silent waiting for the needles. Every doctor lied that it would be fast and painless, so why would he be any different. Sophie thought.
"Ok. I'm just going to examine you and see what the human world has done to your cells. Can you drink this, it's Youth in a Bottle." Elwin said.
"Uh sure" Sophie said before drink the pleasant drink. "Huh, this is nothing like human medicine. I just assumed they would be the same." Sophie said as she drank the second bottle Elwin handed her.
"Yes after all I promised it would be painless. A doctor has to be honest in order for their patients to trust them after all. You have trust issues don't you?" Elwin said at the same time he put on colorful glasses that looked similar to Luna Lovegood's glasses in Harry Potter that made Sophie less intimidated by him.
"Yeah... It's for a reason though, well multiple. Everything I fear or any of my issues are for a reason or else there's no point in fearing it." Sophie said.
"I'm assuming you had a reason to rush me to give you a check up then."
"Yeah..." Sophie said hoping Elwin wouldn't asked what it was and lucky for her he didn't push it.
"Ok, your cells were pretty damaged and I have a list of different medications you'll need." Elwin said while packing up his bag.
"Ok. Thanks Elwin." Sophie said "And thanks for keeping your word."
"No problem Sophie also I think Alden needs to talk to you, so you should probably go." Elwin said.
"Bye." Sophie said as she walked out the door of the glass domed room.
Alden was waiting for her alone outside the room. He was holding the same paper Fitz had earlier.
"What's on that?" Sophie asked curiously.
"Oh just a list of names we were looking at that potentially could've been you." Alden said.
"What's so important about me though? I mean it took you 12 years to find me." Sophie said.
"You'll find out later. Can you follow me to my office though, please?" Alden asked.
"Sure" Sophie said following behind Alden.
Alden's office was just as nice as the room Elwin had taken her to. There were files, books, and lock looking things everywhere. Alden brought a file with one of the weird lock looking things to her.
"Here lick this, it's just confirmation you're the right person." Alden said.
"Ewww... Can't I just lick my finger and put it on that thing? Sophie asked. She couldn't imagine licking something that was, well who knows how sanitary it was.
"No, your DNA has to be directly transferred."
"Fine..." Sophie took the lock thing and gave it a tiny lick.
"You have to cover the whole thing in your saliva" Alden said.
"Oh." Sophie said disappointed that she couldn't outsmart the system.
She gave a bigger lick this time to cover the part she needed to. Then a strand of DNA appeared in the along with an identical one and the word MATCH appeared above the lock looking thing.
"Wow. I have to make a couple calls later, but first we have to get the Washers to make your human parents think you've uh... how do I say this..." Alden sighed, "Died."
"WHAT!?!" Sophie practically yelled.
"Sophie you have to be moved to the Lost Cities -" Alden paused "The Lost Cities are the Elvin world and the Forbidden Cities are the human world. You're human parents can't know your an elf Sophie." Alden said.
"Fitz will take you back to your human parents, so you can bring whatever you want and you won't be able to go back since your family will have been relocated." Alden said.
Sophie's eyes were in a pool of tears. She hadn't thought of what her family would do till that moment. The question then dawned on Sophie.
"So who will I stay with then?" Sophie asked.
Alden smiled, "Well you'll be staying here at Everglen."
