A teenager with silver hair and brown eyes was overlooking a small mountain city. It was his home, just another small town in Miyagi Prefecture. Koushi Sugawara sat on a rooftop, the cold November wind blowing through his hair as he shivered.
The teen felt his leg vibrate and looked down at his phone. It was his boyfriend, a tall dark-haired boy named Daichi Sawamura. It was a picture of him laying in bed, the caption saying "See you at practice tomorrow ;)"
Sugawara smiled and liked the photo before putting his phone back where it was before. Sugawara felt horrible about lying to his boyfriend, but it was for Daichi's safety. If Daichi were to know about Suga's other life then they would both be in danger.
Suga tensed as he heard someone jump onto the rooftop behind him. The teen adorned his silver mask and turned to meet whoever had joined him. Sugawara had an audible sigh of relief when he saw a familiar black mask, with silky black feathers covering one eye.
Koushi ran towards the other boy as he collapsed, "Oh god... Tobio what happened?!"
The other boy, Tobio Kageyama, had blood smearing his shirt and an open wound in his side. Suga helped Tobio lean against the railing as he started to explain, "Ri- Rize... she-" He coughed up blood as his mask fell to the ground, "She attacked..."
"Rize attacked you?!" Suga gave Kageyama a bottle of water. "I thought she was still in Tokyo."
"No... H- H-" Kageyama coughed again before Suga forced him to drink the water. "Hinata."
"Hinata?"
"Rize attacked Hinata." Kageyama was finally able to choke out. "I tried to help... She's dead, Hinata... I don't know."
"Where's Hinata now?" Sugawara's mind went into overdrive. Kageyama pointed to an alleyway a few buildings over from where Sugawara was, "Head to my place."
Sugawara then left his fellow setter there and jumped over rooftops and into the alleyway Kageyama had pointed to. When he looked down the area was covered in a dark substance, Sugawara could only assume that it was blood. There were two forms laying on the concrete, one looked like a woman with pink hair, laying on her side.
The other... was a familiar ginger head, the strands of orange hair covered in red. Sugawara jumped down from his spot on the roof and immediately checked Hinata's pulse. It was faint but there were still small beats coming from underneath his skin.
Sugawara didn't know what to do. Take Hinata to the hospital? Leave him? Call someone? Hinata had already lost so much blood that he didn't know what could be done. Then... Sugawara remembered something his adoptive father had told him the week before.
An artificial ghoul could be created through an organ transplant. There was a boy in Tokyo that was one.
Sugawara checked to see how intact the ghoul's organs were. It wasn't Rize, that's for sure. Sugawara knew that she was dead. Though... There were always rumors that she had a sister. Sugawara pulled out his phone and called a doctor he knew in the area.
"Hey... I need to ask a favor. Do you think you can perform an organ transplant?"
"Yeah... I'll need a sterile area though?"
Sugawara looked across the street to see a liquor store, "That'll have to do. I'll send you my location. Get here fast."
"Koushi... Are you sure?"
Sugawara put the phone against his shoulder, he looked at Hinata. Hinata would become like him... but he couldn't just let Hinata die. He then put his phone back to his ear, silently apologizing to the ginger at his feet.
"Yes."

When Hinata opened his eyes all he could see was a white ceiling, the light in the middle of it burning his tired retinas. After his eyes adjusted, the ginger teen tried to sit up and figure out where he was, though he suddenly grunted in pain when it felt like someone had stabbed him in the stomach.
Hinata lifted his shirt and saw a small scar that definitely wasn't there before.
"Oh, you're awake," Hinata looked over and saw Sugawara standing at a kitchen island, with Kageyama sitting on a stool on the other side. "How do you feel?"
"Okay. But... what happened?" Hinata steeled his nerves against the pain in his chest and stood, walking over to see that his two teammates were both drinking coffee.
Sugawara gestured his mug towards Kageyama who soon answered the ginger's question, "We were walking home last night when you fainted. I thought it was probably just exhaustion but called Suga just in case, we were already so close to my place that Suga decided to bring you here."
Hinata thought back to the previous night, after leaving practice his memories became foggy. "Yeah. I guess I was pretty tired."
"You shouldn't over-exert yourself, Hinata. Wouldn't want our famous duo to be out of commission." Sugawara finished his coffee and then went to the door. "Well, I'm heading to practice."
"I wanna go!" Hinata said before Sugawara could close the door behind him.
"I don't want you fainting again." Sugawara told him as Kageyama got up from his seat and walked over to the door as well.
"I feel fine. Great actually!" It wasn't a lie. The ginger did feel amazing, like he was more alert. Hinata looked at his volleyball bag, which was now sitting on Kageyama's dining room floor. "Hm... What if I just sit out? I can watch!"
Sugawara sighed, "Fine."
Hinata whispered a small, "Yes!" before grabbing his bag and heading towards the door after his teammates.

During practice, Sugawara and Kageyama were both getting water while the other players were practicing their receives. "What are we going to do about Hinata?"
Sugawara looked over at his underclassman with a sigh, "He doesn't seem to be hungry yet. Let's just keep an eye on him and see if anything happens."
