One night, as Hinata snuck back into his bedroom. He would frequently leave to visit Sugawara and Kageyama. He heard a few more people downstairs than just his mother and little sister. Then, when he looked outside again, Hinata finally recognized the CCG logo on the car parked at the end of his driveway.

Hinata made sure he wasn't making too much noise, as he opened his door just a crack to listen to the conversation below him.

"Ma'am has your son been to the hospital recently?" He heard a male investigator ask.

"No... Why?" His mother responded.

"We found DNA evidence that he was at the scene where the Binge-Eater was found dead."

"Where?"

"An alleyway. Just a little ways away from here." A female investigator said.

"The one next to the Family Mart?" His mother asked, "Shoyo walks  to and from school, he bikes through that alley almost everyday. His hair could have fallen out while he was riding through."

"That's the thing. It was DNA evidence... from a blood sample." Hinata heard something click downstairs and the ginger got a horrible feeling in his stomach. "Where is your son?"

"He's out with two of his teammates." His mother said. "He's on the school volleyball team."

"When will he be home?" The male asked.

"Investigator, with all due respect. What are you going to do to my son?"

"We just want to ask him some questions. That's all." The female said.

"That's right. So, when will he be home?" The male repeated.

"I don't know."

There was silence for a few moments.

"Mrs. Hinata, we just want to keep this community safe. That includes your son."

"Well by the sounds of it you are going to arrest him."

"By the sounds of it, you're a family of ghouls living like humans."

There was more silence. All Hinata could do was wait and see what happened to his mother and sister. That's when it happened. The whole house was filled with the sound of moving chairs and a table flipping. He heard the screen door and then-

"Ah! Get off!"

"Don't touch my daughter!"

"Mommy!"

"Natsu!"

Hinata saw the shadows as his mother and little sister were dragged out of the house. Hinata closed his bedroom door quietly and moved over to his window, still hiding from view. His mother and sister were put into the CCG van parked outside, his mother screaming, "We're human! We're human! We're human!" as the doors closed.

Hinata watched as the van pulled away from the house, with two investigators staying. Probably to see if he would come home.

Hinata quickly grabbed his emergency bag (Sugawara gave it to him just in case) and a black face mask. It only covered the bottom portion of his face but it was enough for now.

Hinata quickly jumped out his window and landed on one of the investigators, hearing the Dove's back break in the process. The other investigator went to use his quinque. though a dark orange tentacle stopped him before he had the chance. Another tentacle then wrapped around the man's neck and Hinata heard a sickening snap.

Hinata didn't like killing. But these were CCG. These were the people that just took his mother and eight-year-old sister. These were the true monsters.

Hinata quickly picked both of the men's bodies up and slung them over his shoulders. He then walked across the street to the cliffside and dropped them both to the forest below.

---

Hinata was standing in the middle of a park. He went to that park so much, it was like his sanctuary. He could point out every tree and something memorable that had happened next to it. Though now, he just stood there, remembering the times when he would practice volleyball by himself in that exact spot.

Though, the ginger's thoughts were ripped from him when he remembered the predicament he was in. He was a ghoul. He was a ghoul with a body count. He was a ghoul who had killed two CCG investigators. He was on the run.

Hinata pulled out his phone and dialed one of the numbers that was memorized in his head.

"It's midnight. What the hell do you want?" A sleepy Kageyama grumbled on the other side of the line.

"We have a problem." Hinata whispered.

"What?" Kageyama's voice leveled out at the quietness of Hinata's words.

"The Doves. They took my mom and Natsu. I was able to get away but... let's just say two of their investigators are at the bottom of the mountain now."

"Shit. Alright, you can stay with me tonight and then we can head to Suga's tomorrow."

"Why not head there now?" Hinata asked.

"Have you seen Suga when you wake him up?"

Hinata smiled, "Fair point. Okay, I'll head over now."

---

The next day was a Saturday.

As the first and second year players were warming up, Daichi stood on the sidelines talking to his boyfriend on the phone. "Alright... Ok... Well, don't get sick yourself."

"Captain! Seriously!" Tanaka said sarcastically, as Daichi put his phone back down on the bench.

"Sorry guys. Sugawara, Hinata, and Kageyama won't be at practice today."

"What?! Why?!" Coach Ukai asked.

"Kageyama's sick, Hinata has a family emergency, and Suga is helping to take care of Kageyama."

"Family emergency? I hope everything is alright." Yamaguchi whispered.

"Yeah. Let's all hope so."
