chapter twelve

Daniel found himself turning in the comfortable bed, the mattress soft and the pillow engulfing his head. It made him realize that this bed was way warmer than his own, and it had only hit him then that he wasn't alone in the bed. He had a sleeping angel right next to him.

Her body was turned his way, and he was able to count the freckles dotted along her nose and cheeks while she was still fast asleep. Her hair had fallen out of the bun it was in before they went to sleep, a few strands of dark brown framing her face.

It was hard for Daniel to admit he had feelings for Amelia, due to not knowing how she'd react. They did kiss on their own initiatives instead of doing it because fans were watching or paparazzi taking pictures of them, and that made it clear she liked him as much as he liked her.

He slowly and quietly slipped out of bed, putting on some joggers he had brought with him. Amelia let out a small sigh, and when Daniel turned his head to see if he had awoken her, he noticed the brunette had now rolled over to his side of the bed.

Daniel slipped out of her bedroom and decided to make her something to eat whilst he was waiting for her to wake up. He scratched his chest while rounding the corner, coming face to face with a small brunette girl sitting at the kitchen island. She looked up from where she was checking her phone and dropped her spoon in the cereal filled bowl, eyes widening.

Amelia had mentioned that her roommate and best friend had been a Why Don't We fan, and Daniel actually forgot that someone close to Amelia would freak the fuck out if they'd see him in their kitchen. In their kitchen without a shirt and messy ass bed hair, may I add.

"Oh hi!" He chuckled, sending her an awkward little wave, not knowing how she'd respond to having him in her kitchen. "Uh- I planned to make Amelia something to eat for whenever she wakes up."

"Wait- what's your name and what are you doing in my house?" Kayla narrowed her eyes at him, waiting for Daniel to answer her question. He got confused, and when Kayla read the confused expression on his face, she chuckled. "You're lucky I know who you are- otherwise I would've scolded at you for not even introducing yourself."

Daniel chuckled and sighed softly, relieved that Kayla was chill about him wandering around the apartment. "Yeah- I'm sorry," He smiled, "Everything okay?"

Kayla smiled and rolled her eyes playfully, "Yeah, I actually have to leave for work right now," She told him, hopping off the bar still before putting her bowl and spoon into the dishwasher. "Make sure to top Lia's yoghurt with some honey and blueberries. She's a sucker for that."

"Will do," Daniel smiled genuinely as he watched Kayla grab her keys and bag, "Thanks Kayla!"

"Put on a shirt next time, I'm still a fan!" She joked, flipping him off before heading out the door and leaving Daniel all by himself. He had no idea where all of the necessities were, but after opening a few cabinets and drawers, the brunette found what he was looking for to make Amelia's favorite breakfast.

Daniel fished his phone out of the pocket of his sweats, scrolling through the messages he received from his band mates and his siblings. He even had a message from Zara, who told him he needed to bring Amelia around for her birthday party next weekend.

Amelia had rounded the corner, leaning against the door frame to watch the brunette from a distance. She had a smile on her face when she found Daniel yawning, deciding to speak up once she found herself staring at him. "Glad you didn't ditch me this time."

It caused Daniel to look up from his phone, putting the device back into the pocket of his sweats. He eyed her quickly, noticing how his flannel was more like a dress on her, the soft material slipping off one of her shoulders.

The guy rolled his sea colored eyes playfully, pushing himself off the counter he was leaning against before wrapping an arm around her shoulders to pull her in a hug. His skin felt warm underneath her touch, and she inhaled his musky scent silently while enjoying the embrace they shared.

Daniel knew she was talking about the morning after they spent their first night together, and Daniel left her by herself in his cold and empty apartment. He sighed softly before pulling her tighter against his chest, "I hope you know I certainly regret leaving you alone."

"Oh you know, at least I knew you actually wanted it to work out when you called me thirteen times to try to make it up to me," Amelia joked, looking up at Daniel to find him already narrowing his eyes at her.

She broke out into a chuckle, letting her hands rest onto his waist before she felt his lips press into her forehead, "If you admitted you were already a sucker for me back then, it would've made things way easier, love."

"Excuse me!" She stated with an exaggerated gasp, "This whole thing started with you stealing my drink because you wanted to impress me motherfucker, don't start about me being obsessed with you while you were the one head over heels for me already."

"Never said I wasn't," He blurted out as he watched her face ease into a softer expression, her cheeks slightly radiating a blush. His words caused both of them to fall silent. She wasn't saying a word because how could she even comprehend a normal sentence after he just said that, and he was quiet because he was afraid he blurted too many thoughts out into actual words.

"I'm sorry-I" Daniel stumbled, shaking his head slightly before releasing an embarrassed chuckle, "I shouldn't have said that."

"I don't see why you should apologize if someone else has the exact same feelings," She mumbled quietly, her eyes staying focused on Daniel's, trying to not drown into the pools of blue that were currently filled with curiosity.

"Don't fuck with me right now," He told her honestly, not knowing if Amelia was joking around or being dead serious. He got his answer when she shook her head lightly and led her hands up to cup his scruffy jaw.

"I'm not," She told him genuinely, thumbs brushing over his cheeks, "I'm just surprised you hadn't figured it out yet."

Daniel grinned and shrugged his shoulders lightly, "I mean, you glancing at me every single time whenever we're with our friends kinda made me think you had a small thing for me."

"A small thing for you?" She shook her head before grinning, "The thing I have for you is as big as your ego, Seavey."
