chapter threeAmelia sighed softly as her nude acrylics tapped against the marble top of the table she was sitting at, other hand placed underneath her chin to support her head. It was currently around four thirty, which meant that she had been waiting for Daniel for at least an hour and a half.
The brunette had walked into the cafe at around two forty five, and she blamed herself for turning up fifteen minutes early because she was nervous about meeting Daniel once again. She didn't know how he'd act when it was just the two of them without them being intoxicated, and it caused shivers to run up and down her spine whenever she thought of the faux blonde walking through the door of the small cafe.
That feeling had died down with every minute of him being late passing by. Half an hour turned into sixty minutes and before she knew it, Amelia was on her fourth cup of tea and running out of patience.
She reached for her phone that lay flat on the table, no new notifications popping up from the guy that she hoped would text her why he was running late- or why he couldn't show up. Of course she had texted him herself, asking if he was still able to make it and Amelia also sent him a picture of the tea she had bought him.
When the tea she bought for Daniel ran cold and Amelia had paid and tipped the waitress for the cherry flavored liquid she drank, the brunette found herself picking up her belongings and walking out of the cafe to be greeted by the warm summer breeze of Los Angeles.
She was fishing her phone from the back pocket of her jeans when she noticed a familiar and kind face light up once he had noticed her too from a fair distance away.
"Hey Corbyn!" She smiled, walking into his outreaching arms before rubbing his back soothingly and pushing her sunglasses up to rest on top of her head, "Fancy seeing you here."
Corbyn smiled and nodded, hooking the black framed sunglasses into his white shirt, "Weren't you supposed to meet up with Daniel?"
The fact that he knew about Amelia's meet up with Daniel caused her to think that the blonde must've spoken about her invite for lunch. She sighed softly, "He didn't show up actually," Her voice quiet, eyes avoiding a curious gaze of blue ones looking down at her.
Corbyn's eyebrows furrowed together in confusion as he looked at the smaller brunette standing right in front of him, a sigh escaping his lips as he rubbed his temples, "Are you fucking kidding me? He's supposed to take this serious and he goes and fucks you over? Shit, he doesn't really try, huh?"
Amelia was taken aback at Corbyn's annoyed words and she saw how frustrated it was for him that his band made didn't show up earlier. She thought there must've been something that happened before that she wasn't aware of, because Corbyn seemed more annoyed than she was.
"It's alright," Amelia chuckled, placing a kind hand onto his shoulder before giving it a small squeeze, "He probably has a good reason as to why he didn't show and couldn't come."
"Yeah because he's been fucking around with this side chick," Corbyn muttered, "I'm sorry you have to hear it from me Lia," He sighed softly, "But I don't want to keep something like that from you when you two are supposed to be dating. It's disgusting he didn't cut her off."
Amelia felt her heart drop slightly at Corbyn's honest words, but she maintained herself and shrugged her shoulders, "It's alright, I mean I know the cycle. You meet someone, fuck them on the same night and leave the girl alone in your house the following day. Totally fine."
Corbyn sighed softly at her words, "It's what he did to you too.." He mumbled, annoyance laced within his words, "I just really fucking hoped he'd go into this with all of him, heart upon his sleeve. But it just seems as if he isn't even serious about it at all."
It wasn't until then, Corbyn shifting from one leg onto the other and slightly giving her more sight of what was going on behind him, that she saw the subject of their conversation was hastily making his way towards the cafe.
"I don't even wanna do this anymore," Amelia sighed, rolling her eyes at Daniel, who finally found two pairs of eyes shooting daggers in his direction.
"Oh fuck fuck fuck," He muttered as he noticed Corbyn pulling Amelia into his side to say a quick goodbye, not waking away before he flipped Daniel off by sticking up his middle finger.
Once he finally reached Amelia, she had her arms crossed in front of her chest and her head ticked to the side to silently ask for an explanation. He cleared his throat before opening his mouth, shutting it immediately once he saw Amelia shaking her head.
"I don't need no explanation," She told him sternly, "I've been there, done that and I don't need to hear how sorry you am because apparently I'm the only one that's taking this whole thing serious."
Daniel shook his head softly, "No! No, I mean- I really want to be-"
"It's totally fine for you to see other girls because I am not your real girlfriend and with you acting like this- I don't even want to think about it if I was- but we have to meet up in public sometimes. It isn't working for us if you leave me hanging for some girl. I get me being in your life after we had sex is an adjustment for you, because you tried to run away before, but don't forget it surely is one for me too, Daniel."
And with those last few words, Amelia found herself circling around his stiffened body, walking back into the direction of where she parked her car. It wasn't a long walk, but it gave her some time to think. Time to think about how she was going to make it out alive if Daniel kept playing these stupid games and she was the only one that took this seriously.
