chapter five

Amelia felt her trembling hand reaching for the doorknob after she sprinted down the hall way, waiting a few seconds to calm herself down before opening the front door. The brunette's eyes fell on Daniel, who was casually leaning against the door frame with his arm resting above his head.

"Oh," Amelia spoke up with a nod, "I see you decided to actually show up instead of leaving me hanging, that's nice."

Daniel playfully rolled his eyes once he found the smaller brunette grinning at her own joke, lightly stepping aside so she was able to close the door behind her without getting too much in his space.

The faux blonde took a look at her as she walked towards his car, her casual outfit something different from what he was used to. When Daniel first met her, she was wearing a short dress and when they saw each other at the office, Amelia was wearing a neat and business like outfit.

The oversized shirt and biker shorts were a nice change, and he smiled once she stopped walking and stood in front of the luxurious vehicle. "Damn Seavey, chicken isn't the only way you're trying to make it up to me huh?"

"You like her?"

"Oh it's a her? I see, I got some competition over here," Amelia chuckled as she climbed into the leather seat before Daniel closed the door behind her, jogging to the driver's side. "So now that I got to meet her, are we finally official?"

Daniel laughed and shook his head slightly at her sarcastic remarks, remembering that this was exactly how she was around him when they first met after he stole her tequila shots. He liked the fact that she joked around with him after the minor inconvenience they had yesterday, because it meant she was ready to put it behind them and move on to whatever was in front of them. The fucking relationship deal.

"You're asking me this before we even got to KFC, are you okay?" He joked back as he started the car and backed out of the driveway, right arm resting behind the passenger seat.

Amelia kept looking straight ahead, knowing that if she watched Daniel doing this small action, she'd be fucked. She didn't know what it was with guys and driving and her finding it attractive, but the girl knew damn well that she wasn't going to admit Daniel driving was extremely hot. Even if it was.

She chuckled and shrugged her shoulders to answer him. "Does she have a name? Since she's that special to you."

Daniel leaned his left elbow on part of the car door after rolling down the window on his side, other hand resting on the steering wheel, "Are we going to talk about how much you love my car or are you willing to let me apologize about what happened yesterday?"

The brunette sighed softly, fiddling with the purse on her lap while having her eyes on the road. "Listen Daniel," She spoke up, "I honestly don't want to talk about it. It happened, you apologized and I just want to get along because we have to deal with each other for way too many months, so."

He nodded his head, although he knew she was keeping her eyes on the road and would see him agreeing with her words. Daniel wanted her to know he was truly sorry for not showing up, but deep down he also hoped Amelia knew he felt sorry for leaving her alone in his apartment after their night together. He shouldn't have done it, and the fact that Daniel felt sorry about what happened was something new to him.

Usually, Daniel was the one to move on quick after a night like that. Luring a girl in after stealing her shots or ordering a drink for her would give him enough opportunities to smooth talk her into coming home with him. It was a habit for him to just get along with his life after he left his apartment the following day, not thinking about ever seeing the girl he hooked up with again.

With Amelia, it was obviously different. He thought he'd never see her again, but when he walked in and saw her sitting in her manager's office, it all shifted. Now that they had to pretend to be in a relationship, Daniel couldn't deny the fact that Amelia did something to him and he didn't know how to react or handle himself.

After a while of comfortably driving towards KFC, the pair had reached the food chain and Daniel ordered for the both of them. Amelia wanted to speak up but Daniel shushed her, "Oh yes I forgot, can I also get some extra barbecue sauce please? My girlfriend likes an unhealthy amount of sauce. Thank you!"

Amelia rolled her eyes but smiled at his statement, not mentioning anything about Daniel calling her his girlfriend. She knew it was part of their deal and she was going to hear that word more often as time went by, but it was something Amelia had to get used to.

A few minutes later, Daniel took the paper bags from the employee and thanked her kindly. Amelia took the bags from him so he was able to drive to a parking spot for them to eat their food.

"I can not believe you actually remembered my obsession with barbecue sauce," The brunette laughed as Daniel stopped the car and leaned back in his seat, turning his head to look at her.

"How could I forget? You did not stop talking about that one time a McDonald's employee forgot your extra sauce," He snickered, taking over the cup Amelia handed him, unconsciously brushing her hand in the proces. Daniel cleared his throat and took a sip from his drink, trying to get rid of the feeling in the pit of his stomach.

Amelia shrugged her shoulders about his joke, a chuckle falling from her lips as she thought back to that one particular night out with Kayla. When those two were together, every night was a party. She fished her chicken burger out of the bag before unwrapping it, taking a bite as she tried not to spill the lettuce onto the nice interior of the Tesla.

"Petunia, her name is Petunia."

The brunette turned her head once Daniel spoke up, swallowing the bite she took. She was confused for a second before remembering she had asked him if the car had a name.

"Why does that make me think about Luke Hemmings' dog?" She chuckled, reaching for her Coca Cola.

"Oh fuck, I forgot that band is also one of your unhealthy obsessions."
