The next day, Veer woke up to Kiara sleeping on his chest. She looked so peaceful, sleeping on him.
He kissed her temple and whispered in her ears. "Wake up, sweetheart. It's your birthday."
He then started to nuzzle his face in her neck. She moaned in her sleep, before finally opening her eyes. She looked at his face and gave him a really warm smile.
"Good morning." Her voice was hoarse.
"If I get to wake up next to you, the morning becomes more than just good." He slurred.
Mayera, Arjun and Navya were coming for brunch. So they were forced to get up and start preparing the food. If Kiara had known that she'd end up proposing to Veer, she'd have never planned that birthday brunch and spent the entire day in his arms.
When Veer opened the cabinet where the aprons were kept, he was surprised to see two neatly folded black aprons there instead of the old floral ones.
He took those new aprons out and unfolded them. One apron had Kiara's name and the other one had Veer's name.
He looked at Kiara.
"Umm, I saw them on Instagram. They made customized aprons. So I ordered them. Since we spend a lot of time in this kitchen, I thought it's high time you had your own apron!" She smiled sheepishly.
"Wow, it's like getting an appraisal in our relationship." He joked while Kiara laughed.
It was almost 1pm when the Singhania family reached. Kiara was enveloped in a big hug by Mayera as soon as she opened the door, followed by Arjun, and then finally her cutie pie, Navu.
Navya was a very affectionate child. She loved hugging and kissing people she was familiar with. Kiara took her niece in her arms and in return Navu placed a loud kiss on her Kia Maa's cheek.
"That's not fair, Navu. Even I want love!" Veer entered the room and straight went to his baby.
Mayera saw how he was wearing an apron that had his name inscribed on it and gave Kiara a confused look.
"He came over to help me cook." Kiara informed Mayera when she saw her staring.
When Kiara spoke, it got her both the men's attention. Veer and Arjun were looking at the women.
"Why don't I believe you?" Mayera now had a teasing smirk.
"I, uh, I don't," Kiara was stammering. She was always bad at lying.
Mayera understood. "Oh my, God! You guys are together!"
Kiara knew there was no point in lying, so she looked at Veer and he gave her a small nod. He then held her from the waist and looked at Arjun and Mayera. "Yes, we're dating."
"Yayy! I knew it'll happen one day." Mayera jumped in excitement, while Arjun patted Veer's back.
Veer hadn't gotten time to tell Arjun about all this as Arjun had been busy with Navya and his work, but still Arjun had some hint about it. When they all met on Mayera's birthday, Arjun had noticed the way Veer was staring at Kiara. It was the same look that Arjun himself used to give Mayera, like she was his entire world.
All five of them had a great time together at brunch. Kiara looked at them all laughing and talking and knew that these were the people she wanted to spend her life with, to share every ups and downs together.
In the evening, Mayera and Arjun finally left as Navya was very tired.
"Can I give you your gift, now?" Veer asked her while she was picking up the torn gift wrappers. Kiara had gotten a really fancy box as a gift from Mayera and Arjun that had all kinds of baking stuff that one can ever think of.
"Yeah sure."
His jacket was hanging on one of the chairs. He reached inside it's pocket and took out an old looking box.
He then made her sit on the couch and himself sat on the ground, in front of her.
He opened the box and inside was a beautiful pair of silver anklets.
She took one out and admired that fine piece of jewellery.
"I know it's not too extravagant but it is very close to my heart. This was my mother's. And now I want you to have it." Veer nervously scratched his neck.
Kiara was astounded. "Me?"
"Yes, you! If my mom would've been here, she'd have given it herself. But I'm filling in her shoes right now."
"But…"
"No ifs and buts, Kia. I know this is too soon, but I also know that we're meant to be together!" The raw vulnerability in Veer's voice told Kiara that she had found her forever.
She raised her feet from the ground and kept it on his thighs. "Make me wear them."
He grinned at her and delicately took one anklet and put it around her ankle. Then he kissed it. He repeated the same with the second one.
"They're so exquisite!" Kiara complimented them.
"Yeah, so are you!" He responded, making her shy away.
That night Kiara said a silent thank you to Veer's parents for giving birth to an amazing son and also promised them to always take care of him, and love him.
Yes, while Veer was making her wear those anklets was when Kiara realised that she had completely fallen in love with the man and wanted to spend her entire life with him.
And she couldn't wait to confess her feelings to him.
