After Abu Dhabi Daniel came back into my flat in London. It felt like we were a couple again. We spoke sometimes about it but we always ended up in the sheets together. We can't deny it, the tension is still there. But is that what I want? I mean he will stay at Red Bull, I will stay at Mercedes. We're rivals. But is it the right thing? I needed time on my own and I would lie to myself when I say that I didn't miss this, miss us, miss Daniel. It's all up to me I guess. Today I have to fly to Berlin for a Mercedes Benz Christmas surprise. Today is the 15th of December, on the 21st we will board our flight to Perth. To home. We want to show Poppy Australia. We want to meet Daniels' family. I want to go to my mums grave. I think I'm ready. But first things first I need to talk to Daniel.

It's 5:30 a.m. I'm still in bed, cuddling against Daniels chest. Our girls is still asleep. The windows are mist up. It's a cold winter day in London. So we'll go for a walk today. No more running in the middle of London. I bought myself a treadmill, so no car can run me over. Daniel was always around to help me build things. Although we ended things he was always there for me. Also my feelings were there, but my head didn't want me to get hurt. I wanted to concentrate on my career. I won, I am the World Champion. And now? It didn't gave me the feelings I thought I would have. Something was missing. Daniel and Poppy were missing. I closed my eyes again and I drifted away once again.

Daniel POV:
"Ruby, wake up. It's 7 a.m. - we need to go to the airport. I changed our tickets. We will stay in Berlin until the 21st. and then fly via Munich and Doha to Melbourne, then a day there and then to Perth. So better start packing!" she looked at me. "Family time in Berlin. I think we need it. We can visit the Zoo if you want to. Our hotel is directly next to it." I smiled. She jumped out of bed and took another suitcase. She started to panic. I went out of bed and hugged her from behind. "Be mine again." I whispered in her ear. She turned around and looked at me. I put my hands on her hip. She stared me in the eyes, then her eyes wandered to my lips. "Is this what you want?" She nodded. I leaned in and kissed her slowly. My heart raced but it felt so good. I missed it. I missed us. "Ruby, listen. I missed us. It hurt me seeing you and not being able to be there for you. What do you think, do you give me another chance?" She just looked at me. Oh no. Did I say something wrong? "Listen, you do-" she just held a finger onto my lips. "I would love to get back together with you Daniel. I love you. I always did. And it hurt me too." She explained. I pulled her into a kiss.

Three days later:

These days Berlin I never felt this good around Daniel and Poppy. We decided on not posting too much on Social Media about our girl. She should be able to decide on her own. I don't wanna end up like Kelly Piquet and showing my girl to the whole world. But that's Max' story, not mine. We will have another two short days in Berlin and then we'll be off to Australia for Christmas. After that Dan and me will head to the Maldives. I can't even wait for it. It was such a hard season. All eyes were on me, the pressure and everything. I lost myself and my family, but I found them again. I could punch myself for being that dumb. 

Fast forward to Christmas:
I loved the little time out in Berlin, but now we're in Australia. Heat, surfing, swimming in the sea. The best life I could imagine. Today is the evening of the 24th of December. We sit together with Daniels parents outdoor in their garden in Perth. It's a beautiful summer night. Tomorrow I wanted to go to the grave of my mum. Daniel volunteered to drive me there. I'm so grateful to have him in my life. "Ruby, do you want to take some flowers of our garden to the grave?" Grace, Daniels mother asked me. I nodded and thanked her. We sat there and talked about everything. " I wanted to thank you for everything you did for me. You were there even when Daniel was already in Europe. You helped me when no one else wanted to. I'm so proud to call you my family" I pulled Grace and Joe in a hug. Then suddenly I heard a loud bang. Daniel was no longer next to me. He was in the garden starting fireworks. When it was all settled he ran back to me and hugged me from behind. It was so beautiful standing there and watching the lights.

The house of the Ricciardo family was so big, Poppy had her own room. Daniel and me went down in the living room in the morning and set up all the presents for the family and more important for Poppy. "I can't wait to see our little girl running around and having fun with her present" Daniel kissed me behind my ear. I smiled. I was happy. And I don't feel guilty for it.
