At the end of the stone pathway, they stepped out of their shoes and let their feet sink in the sand. She thanked him and leaned into him and he kissed her forehead. He placed the bag at the side and laid the blanket open for them. She laid down on his lap and he sat up straight.
She looked up at him multiple times but he kept looking straight ahead, sighing away. She let him be for some more time but nothing changed so she raised her hand and placed it on his lips "Are you still mad at me? We can sit in silence but I can actually feel like you're going to combust." kissing her palm "I'm not mad at you Bri, I'm mad at the world for being the way it is at times." "Oh then please do continue to be a bit mad at it for me as well! And the silence continued as minutes passed by." She was busy staring at the star just like she did last night, his eyes followed the waves, she, later on, turned to her side and placed a kiss on his thigh. This small gesture made him smile.
"A week before we landed here, it was Joe's birthday. He is our youngest cousin. He turned seventeen, he is one of the happiest, friendliest, and the most lovable people I know. I'm like the introvert of the party and all the attention is on him, the live wire. He lives on the opposite side of town and we don't really meet that often just on birthdays and new year. He is Gemma's favourite, they generally meet up once a month and tell each other what's going on in their lives.
So a few days ago she decided to go over even though they had met just a few days ago and on her way she picks up donuts on her way to his house and his mum opens the door and lets her in and says that he is in his room and goes back to the kitchen. So she walks upstairs to his room and the music blaring away. She knocks but doesn't get a response. So she opens the door to find him lying on the floor out cold with dried up froth around his mouth. She dropped everything and screamed for help and called 999. She tried to get a response but nothing, lucky the ambulance came within minutes and could revive him, he was in the hospital under observation ever since."
"Like none of us saw this coming, he doesn't even drink Bri, I just keep wondering what would have happened if Gemma hadn't decided to drop by. When Gemma called that day, I was expecting happy news because that's the only time she calls otherwise she would text, and hearing her cry completely broke me. She is the stronger one between the two of us and seeing her like that I completely lost it and that's when you found me all broken and bruised."
Bri twisted and looked up at him but his gaze hadn't changed, he was still mad at the world, his eyes were cloudy as compared to his crystal clear ones. She got up and sat right behind him and hugged him from behind and he held her hand, she felt a shiver go down her spine when his cold rings touched her skin. "The only reason I could tell you about this was, today I saw go from anger to calm within minutes 'Bri chuckled a bit' like I don't know how you could do that, you were calming me down instead of me doing that for you! You have probably gone through your share of hell to be this calm in every messed up situation."
"Curly, I'm far away from calm, I have such anger issues like you have no clue. It's just that I'm able to push it away until it's too far gone. I'm like a ticking time bomb. I don't even know when my last tick will go off and I'll blow up.
A person like Jean who knows me before we could even begin to speak doesn't come close to me or try to get me to rationalize because I have this ability in me that knowingly or unknowingly will say that one thing that will completely destroy the other person to the extent that they would never speak to me again, and I'm not just saying this for the sake of it but this has actually happened and I hate that part of me. So all that Jean would do is, place food and water in front of me and leave me alone.
It was that bad that I used to throw things and not just break furniture but like throwing anything I could get my hands on, knives, mobiles, landline, bottles, or even glasses and I didn't care if it hurt the other person. I was out of control, the only way I learned to control it all and compartmentalise is by joining MMA.
My instructor at times had to use her full range of power to control and hold me down, it took me years to learn how much pressure to use when and to channelise my strength and anger even after all these years I still lose it at times. I learned the hard way how not to react but instead respond to a situation.
We all have different ways of dealing with pain, we are broken at different points so you do what helps you at that time. Okay?"
"Hmm." For these past five years, he would have never guessed that this calm bubbly woman had a hellfire raging inside her and that she was far from the idea of normalcy that people had. Leaning into her clutch, he thanked whichever stars that aligned for them to meet each other and be around them and watch them grow. "Wanna eat?", he asked her and she chirped YES!
She swapped back her place and he removed two containers and passed her chopsticks, which she placed at the side. And opened up hers and asked him to pass her a fork and he looked into the bag trying to find one but he came out empty. "Ah crap! I didn't know that you couldn't eat with chopsticks, I'll feed you" he picked up some Teriyaki chicken noodles and placed them in her mouth. As she chewed on it she opened her hair and then twisted them and pushed them under her top, used the hair tie to tie up the top end of the chopsticks to hold them together, tweaked them together, and picked up some of her own chili garlic noodles and ate them. 'Improvise adapt overcome', he said, impressed and amused by her tactic, 'yeah!'
Once they were done, he placed everything back in the bag and they held hands, sat there, and enjoyed the sea breeze. They talked about how Daisy is her favourite flower and his was poppy.
After an hour they went back to their own room and went off to sleep. The next day was a long day of shoot for Harry, Bri was working for half a day, and then she was done.
