She got up early the next day since she had a meeting with her team which finished by lunchtime. She ate a bit of what she had bought from the grocery store and went to Harry's room.
Knocking on the door she waited for him to open up. Opening up a second later... she gave him a big sarcastic smile as if she had a big plan going on in her head.
"Come on, start packing! a bag for three days, nothing special, I'm taking you away" she informed him with mischief in her eyes, I've already informed your manager 'he says you need it.'
He just stood there dumbstruck, she walked up to him after drinking a glass of water and pushed him to get a move along. "Where are you taking me?" He asked as he began to gather things, "To muddy roads and ghost towns, where peace is around every nook and corner!"
"Pack casuals and maybe one pair of your fancy suit, I'll go get my bag and meet you here okay". "Don't take too long, girl! "he said, waving at her.
She sure took her time to get to her room and changed into black jeans, a grey printed T, and sneakers. Picked up her duffle bag and walked back to his room. Peaking in she asked, "You ready?" 'A minute', then he came out wearing a blue and white striped long-sleeve sweater, and white pants.
Getting into the car she played the radio and told him that it's an hour and a half drive and to make himself comfortable.
"So where are we going?" he asked inquisitively. "To a small town where most of the people are above 50, they live like the good old days, cute little cottages, two grocery stores, surprisingly everyone has a different accent and also a pub where every Saturday the whole town gathers to drink and dance till their heart's content and feet hurt".
"Soundly lovely and umm Bri thanks for yesterday", he looked ashamed of himself. "Oh don't worry about it Harry, we all have messy days but for the next three days you're gonna have fun and relax. It will get your mind off things!"
"Great!" He then hummed to the music playing and she kept her eyes on the road.
Harry had fallen asleep against the window and as Bri drove into the town she tapped him 'we are here!' he rubbed his eyes open to see dim yellow street lights and country music playing on the low.
They came to a halt in front of a cute little white and blue cottage, surrounded by pretty flowers and the fairy lights draped over the door frame changing colours from yellow to blues and purple. She turned to him and said, "It's a small place don't expect much okay?" 'Okay, he mumbled half asleep, and got out of the car proceeded to remove the bags.
Bri went to the next cottage and knocked on their door. All Harry could see was a woman stepping out all happy and giving Bri a wholesome hug then offering the keys then again hugging after which Bri jogged back to him.
"Let's go!", she says swinging the keys around her finger. She tried to take a bag from him but the gentleman that he is wouldn't let her. So she opened the door and hit the lights and walked in. Harry dropped the bags next to the sofa and looked around.
The hall had these little artifacts and a small lamp at the side and minimum wooden furniture to make the room look spacious. So Bri began to explain 'there are two bedrooms I'll take the smaller one on the left and you can take the one on the right. The kitchen is the door at the end of the hallway.'
"You've been here before!" He obviously stated, wondering how she knew where everything was. "Yup, once years ago! Feels like nothing has changed since then", she said picking up the duffle bag and walking to her room.
'Oh by the way she turned around to ask him " I'm gonna go to the grocery store and get us fries and nuggets for dinner would that be okay? "Yeah, that would be great, I packed a bottle of white wine that we can share over it, I'll keep for chilling till then!"
'Perfect!' She placed the bag in her room, removed her packed slippers, slipped them on, and left for the store. Returning from the store she went straight to the kitchen, switched on the stove on medium heat, placed a pan on it drizzled some oil in it, and quickly went back to her room to change into something comfortable.
Nuggets and fries were ready to be eaten within no time. He entered the kitchen in white shorts and the same sweater..."I'll pour the wine eh", he said opening the cupboard trying to find the right glasses, 'Yeah sure', she said placing the food on the table.
Clicking their glasses they sipped on wine and picked up fries to munch on.
"So was this you're planned getaway before the shoot started?" he asked
"Yeah! I was gonna come up here on my own, have a couple of days of fun and relaxing but then I decided you needed it more so I pulled you in", Bri exclaimed.
"Thanks for that! A quick question though he paused to bite a piece of the nugget why didn't you ask me what's wrong? Most people ask but all you said was you are gonna be okay!"
It's quite simple actually, "I didn't ask cause it might make the situation worse also I'd rather have you tell me on your own terms than me poking my nose in it", she stated those lines as if it was the most logical thing to do.
He smiled at her, scrunched his nose up and his dimples appeared, "I'm really lucky to know you, Bri!"
"Oh honey, I know", she says brushing off her shoulders and smirking away to which he laughed. "You never could just accept a compliment!" He continued with"And the plan for tomorrow is?"
"Umm once we get up, we can go to the Lake first just sit there and chill for a while then go to a restaurant or so, She explained and continued eating.
"Seems we are going to have a very relaxed day tomorrow, a break from reality. Definitely up for that", he sighed in relief.
