Nova's POV:

I headed straight home with the tears running down my face. I understood that New York had everything for Holden, but I couldn't just leave Dusk Valley. I didn't know what to do. When I got home, I could hear the notifications from my phone ringing.

Holden ♥️😘

I'm sorry Nova. I'm wasn't being fair on the topic. I understand that you have everything here for you but I don't know what to expect when I have to go back to New York. Please talk to me.

I didn't respond anything. I just left him on read.

I called up Allegra and Wyatt.

"Hey guys," I said, still sniffling a bit, "Can we meet up in a few?"

"Yeah, sure," Alli says.

"Of course," Wyatt said, "Where do you wanna meet up?"

"Um, let's all go to the pier we used to go to as kids," I say.

They agree and I head out.

~~

Alli and Wyatt were already sitting there and noticed my puffy face immediately.

"What happened?" Alli asked.

"Um, so you know the guy at the bakery earlier?" I ask Wyatt, to fill him in.

"He's my boyfriend, Holden, I was telling you about."

"That's Holden? Damn, he's hot," Wyatt says.

I smile as I gently push him and say, "He's mine."

Alli chuckles and says, "So what happened?"

I sighed, "We got into a small fight."

"What happened?" Wyatt asked.

"Holden's only in Dusk Valley temporarily so I wanted to know what would happen to our relationship when he has to leave. He wants me to go to New York with him and I said no," I said, continuing to explain to them what happened.

After they heard the rest, Wyatt says, "I kind of agree with him. Don't get me wrong, it's a big decision but based on what you said, it seems like, to you, moving to New York just isn't an option at all but why isn't it? I get that your mom and friends are here but besides that, is everything  really here for you? I mean, Holden seems amazing. He's head over heels for you, from what Alli's been telling me and we all know that there's more to life than this old town. We all know how judgemental this place is and, he's right, in the city you wouldn't have to worry about that. I think what's really stopping you, is you're scared."

I thought about what he said. Wyatt was right. Holden was right. Everything isn't here for me. I'm just scared of the unknown.

"You're right," I said, admittedly.

"So what are you gonna do now?" Alli asked.

"I don't know," I say.

Holden's POV:

I was so conflicted. I don't want to lose Nova. Her coming into my life was the best thing that ever happened to me. She helped fill that knawing hole in my heart. I love her. I always will.

I sighed, as I got up from my bed. I had a business meeting with a new client at the NOLA office, in fifteen minutes.

I got dressed in a black dress shirt and black skinny jeans and head out in my car.

~

Once I got to the office, the receptionist greeted me and let me know that the client was coming over in ten.

I head up to my office and sat on my chair, thinking. I couldn't get Nova out of my head, which wasn't necessarily out of the ordinary, but this time, she was upset with me.

I was pulled out of my thoughts, once I hear my office phone ringing.

"Mr. Scott, Grant Williams in here for his 5:30. Should I send him up?"

"Yes, go ahead, Stacy," I reply.

Two minutes later, I hear a knock on my door. "Come in."

Mr. Williams comes in and sits in front of my desk.

"Hi Mr. Williams, it's nice to finally meet you. I've heard amazing things about you," I say, genuinely, as I shake his hand.

"Please, call me Grant. It's nice to meet you as well, Mr. Scott."

"Call me Holden. Now, I've asked to meet you because I think you have an amazing business and from what I've heard, you have a very good work ethic. I would like to consider doing a collaboration with a new tech device," I say, straight to the point.

Grant's POV:

I heard Holden's proposal and I was definitely considering saying yes, as he was finishing up his presentation. Then, I notice a picture of Holden and Nova, smiling. Nova? Alli never mentioned that Nova knew Holden Scott. Then again, she told me Nova was dating a Holden but she never mentioned his last name.

"Well, Holden, I've heard your prompt and I have to say, you drive a hard deal. I'm in," I smile to him.

"Thank you so much for your business, Grant. I look forward to working with you," Holden said, happily.

"I, as well. Grant, if I may, I know this may seem odd, but how do you know the girl in that picture?"

He looked over to the picture, I motioned to, and responds with, "That's my girlfriend," he said, smiling at the picture.

"You're the Holden, Nova's been dating?" I asked curiously.

"I suppose so," Holden, chuckled. "How do you know Nova?"

"I've know her, since she was a baby. My sister, Alli and Nova have been best friends ever since they met."

"Huh, it's a small world, isn't it?" Holden chuckled.

"Yeah it is," I smiled, "it's been nice meeting you, Holden. I look forward to seeing you in the future. I'll see myself out," I say.

Third Person POV:

Talking about Nova, got Holden thinking. He couldn't leave what they said to each other be the last thing they said to each other today. He rushed over to Nova's house, to apologize to her for pressuring her into something she wasn't ready for.

Meanwhile, after Wyatt broadened her perspective, Nova felt bad for the way she handled the situation. She headed out to apologize to Holden, racing to her car, to fix the damage she left.

Once Holden got to Nova's house, he knocked on her door, awaiting to speak to Nova, while Nova did the same at Holden's house.

"I'm sorry, but Holden / Nova isn't home right now," both were told.

Nova turned away to her car, noticing the storm clouds forming.

Holden sighed, and headed back to his care, feeling upset and disappointed in himself.
