"Okay, we are going to take it really easy today. For the next 8 weeks you'll have physical therapy 3 times a week. If you want it consistent I would recommend either Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday or Monday, Wednesday, Friday."

"Could we do Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday?" She nods. "Okay, what I want to do today is electric stimulation and then some quad sets." I nod and watch her. I had taken one of my anxiety meds in the car, knowing that I would become extremely panicked with the contact otherwise.

She leads me do doing a quad set. I watch her put the pads on my left quad. "Okay, this is on at the lowest setting. I'll continue to slowly ramp it up until you tell me to stop because it gets too uncomfortable, your quad gets good contraction, or it gets to the maximum level."

I nod. I watch as she turns it up. It's producing a weird tingly feeling. She eventually stops increasing it. I feel my quad contracting which feels really weird.

"Okay, we'll do this for 15 minutes. Feel free to go on your phone if you wish." I go on Instagram and see we're sitting at just about 200 followers. I expect it to be low since we have never played a show or released music. I would presume that some of the followers are just people that followed us because of our dad's music. I see an email.

Hello Ms Gaskarth,
We were looking for a small local band to come play at our bar, live, on Friday. I came across your band and we would love to have you. There is no cost for you to play. Any profits you make would be people giving it to you or any merch sales. Will you guys play?

I smile. "Alex, we already have a gig." "That's awesome! You are accepting, right? Any gig, whether you are making any money or not, is good publicity to start out." I nod and send the email quickly.

I feel the steady contractions of my quad stop. "Okay, that's it for today. We could ice here if you want or you can when you get home." "Home." She nods. "I'll see you on Sunday!" We go home and Alex and I both ice.

I look at the website, seeing about 50 pre-orders of CDs and about 50-75 t-shirts. There is also about 30 sweatshirts and 10 vinyls. "Why are people pre-ordering my band's music and merch when they don't even really know us?" "Some people like going all in, finding tiny local bands to try and be part of their beginning followers. Some have probably listened to your song and they enjoyed it. There are probably multiple that knew you guys personally and want to hear your music."

I go through the orders. I see one as they come in. "Kyra, Kenny! Mrs Coyer pre-ordered our CD!" They both run over and look. "That's so awesome!" I'm buzzing with excitement now.

An email comes through and I look at it. I read the first paragraph and squeak, dropping my phone. "What was that?" "K-Kyra, please tell me I'm not imagining that." She picks up my phone and reads it out loud.

"Holy shit. Dear Dire Chaos, as you guys probably know, our US/Canada tour starts at the very end of August. Our front band, Thursday, had to cancel out on us for that leg. We were trying to look for an appropriate, small band to fill and we came across your band.

You would get 25% of the ticket and concession sales as well as any of your band's merch sales. You would have to provide for your own band. Please respond as soon as possible so we can fill it if you guys can't join us.

Thanks,
Frank, Gerard, Mikey, and Ray."

I cover my mouth. "Rachel, please breathe before you pass out." I take a few deep breaths and my eyes stay wide. "Okay, you guys are going on tour with them! I accepted for you since you were in too much shock."
