heart broken

 TW : panic attack 

JJ watched her from the top of the tree and yet he didn't know what to say. John B was heartbroken seeing the girl he considered his sister being broken for a guy like Rafe Cameron. After all, he could tell what it was like to fall in love with the wrong person. John B had fallen in love with Sarah Cameron, the kook princess. They had even gotten engaged.

Tears rolled down her cheeks as she broke down in tears. Her heart was broken when she realized that the man she loved didn't love her anymore. Or ever loved her. For once in her life, she knew there was nothing JJ could do to help her. No one could understand the pain she felt, her heart clenched at the thought that Rafe had been paid. Her mind was racing and her hands were shaking. Why was she reacting this way? Their relationship had only lasted a few months and yet she felt it in her chest like it had been 25 years. This was her first love, her first real kiss, her first time at anything. Her brother couldn't understand the pain of losing his first love. After all, it was an impossible love. A love so unexpected so good but so bad at the same time. So toxic. Sky had given all her energy to make their relationship work. She had snuck out of her house to see him, she had helped him control his addiction, she had complimented him, she had hidden all sharp objects in his room in case his father was too hard on him. Except he hadn't given it back. Sky stayed when no one understood him. She had stayed despite his anger, she had stayed despite the fact that he had killed someone. Love makes you blind, they say.

Now she was alone, with nothing but sadness to comfort her.

Jj could see the pain in her sister's eyes. And even though he wanted to hit Rafe, to torture him, he held back. He understood that she needed help. JJ climbed down from the tree and motioned for John B and Sarah to leave. JJ had never seen his sister cry so much.

"Hey sis, it's me. It's JJ. Can you breathe ?" he asked softly.

When there was no response, he took his sister's hands.

"Okay, cupcake. Breath, softly. In... and out."

He guided her until her panic attack was over. JJ didn't understand. He thought she wasn't thinking about him anymore. he was wrong.

"Can you explain me? You don't have to."

She took a deep breath.

"Okay... Me and Rafe we're not a thing in the begining. The first time, I'd gone with him in a rather random way to get drugs from Barry. He offered me something to eat, although it was very cold, but he wasn't as hateful as they say. He was nice, JJ. Then we started seeing each other more regularly. At first I was helping him with his addiction, and then we started seeing each other to... see each other. I enjoyed his presence and I thought he enjoyed mine. I was there for him, JJ. I swear I was there."

She tried to calm her heartbeat.

"I know you were. And i don't understand why you did fall for him, but you did, sis. Maybe I can't go back in time to change things but I can help you heal. Time heals. You are not alone and if you ever need me, talk to me." he said in a soft smile.

JJ has always been good with words. He had a hard time expressing himself and his feelings, but with his sister it was something different.

"I promise, everything will be alright."

"You promise?"

"I do."
