Pissed.
That's what I am right now.
Mad. Pissed. Angry.
Of all that freaking people I could've taken from, why did it have to be Kes Akpofure?
We were kinda friends before, mostly because we sat close to each other for JSS3 exams.
One day, he stumbled on my mother's kiosk and found out about my crappy life, deepening our bond, as nobody, not even Chetachi or Beryl knows exactly what I'm going through.
Things were good.
Things were great.
I'd maybe even started catching some feelings......
Until one day, he handed me an envelope full of money.
Something about the way he gave it to me, smile and all, reminded me of Big Daddy.
He was lucky I didn't slap him or puke on him or both.
Instead, I shoved his money back to him and walked away.
Right out of our friendship.
That ring....
It was part of the things I took for Big Daddy on the first day of resumption.
I must have instinctively slipped it off him when I handed him my pen.
Why does Big Daddy have me steal for him?
Well, he runs an underground black market business that spans continents.
He likes to get a hold of everything he can, then sell it for outrageous, literally illegal prices.
I'm the only one working for him, but I sure as hell don't want to do it anymore.
But, the cards in this game are most certainly not in my favor.
I sighed.
Three major things are the problem right now.
First, that I'd been foolish enough to not just take from Kes, but to take his most prized possession.
Second, that I'd have to be nice to him from now on to ease my conscience a little.
And finally, that I'll have to steal something of equal or greater value to exchange with Big Daddy for the ring.
I sighed again as I pushed the door open.
Desola sat in the living, a small towel wrapped round her damp-looking hair.
"Hey," I said." Where's Mummy? I didn't see her in the shop."
"She went to the market," Desola replied."Demi is inside with Derin."
