Summer's POV
I just arrived here in the bookshop and welcomed by Beth with a smile. This is the only place that I find peace and she is the only person that I know who is not a part of the mafia world.
It kinda started to be a big deal to me if a person is a part of that world or not. I wanna be with people where I won't feel scared that there will be gunshots or kidnapping anytime. It's too much to take for me. I almost died before in being terrified when some mafia group kidnapped me during the party before at the Waylands.
Then Niall came across in my head. Did he really tried to kill Michael? But, why? Is Michael that bad too that Niall wants to kill him before? As my head started to hurt from all these thoughts, the bell rang, meaning someone has entered the shop.
I walked to the door to see Harry wearing a snapback and his usual white shirt and jeans.
"How may I help you?" I smiled and he turns to me.
"Hey, Summer." Harry smiled. "Do you have this book?" He asks as he hands me a paper.
I read what is written on the paper. "This doesn't look classical." I kinda teased him.
"Yeah, it's not." He kinda chuckled.
"Come on, follow me." I tell him.
We walked to the Science books aisle and I gave his book. Harry took it with a smile and obvious excitement on his face. He must really like reading books.
"Your eyes look puffy." Harry says. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah." I lied. "Just some stuff."
"Oh." He says. "I hope you feel better soon."
"I hope so too." I smiled a little.
Then Harry made his way to the counter to pay for the book he got. He waved me goodbye before leaving the store.
"Summer." Beth called from the counter and I hurried to her.
"Yes, Beth?"
"That young man seems to be a really good friend of yours." She smiled.
I just smiled at Beth's word. Harry looks kind though but we never really talked about anything. He will just drop by here and ask me if we have this certain book then that's it.
I made my way to the Children's book section to fix and organize the books that the kids don't return properly. As I sit in the ground and fix the book, a certain book caught my attention and I picked it up. It's a baby book that instantly reminded me of Allie and the baby they're having soon. Then pain came in that I cried even though I don't want to. Why does it have to hurt so much?
A hand with a handkerchief appeared beside me from my back. I turn to see Jason standing behind me, he smiled at me as he straightened his pose.
"You're crying again." He says before sitting down in the floor beside me.
"It hurts, Jason." I say.
"It's okay." He says. "You'll be okay." He smiled before placing an arm on my shoulders and gently pulling me to him. I leaned on him with my head on his shoulder.
I feel happy that Jason is here for me when I need someone. I just wish he isn't a part of any mafia group. I find him as a sweet and caring friend. It's a good thing that he went to NYU and we met.
"Thank you, Jason." I say with a low voice.
"I didn't do anything, Summer." He humbly said.
"You've been a good friend." I say. "I'm really grateful."
