YOON JAEHYUK CHOKED on his coffee. it didn't help that his hands were clammy, his heart was beating at a terribly rapid speed and the back of his neck was starting to sweat. and the fact that him and asahi were sitting in such close proximity to one another didn't make it any easier for him. and when asahi asked him that question did it really send his mind into a frenzy.
❝ how do you know if you like someone? ❞ asked asahi
it wasn't help either when the japanese was looking at jaehyuk directly. his blank, emotionless face with those sparkly dark eyes. his rosy pink cheeks shining under the dim light and those soft lips. jaehyuk struggled to get an answer out originally but when asahi said "it's okay" was when jaehyuk really got his answer out.
he didn't realise he started to ramble on but asahi just listened, his eyes never leaving the older's face. jaehyuk at this point didn't realise that the japanese had his focus fully on him. his mouth just saying whatever he had balled up within him.
after realising he'd been going on for at least 5 minutes about whether you liked someone did he finally ask the question:
❝ asahi-ya, do you like someone? ❞
jaehyuk didn't know what to expect. should he have expectations that the other would like him back? but he had dealt with rejection before. so he would be prepared for that. but if it were from asahi, would he survive? he wasn't sure. however, it wasn't the first time that he had harboured romantic feelings for someone else. but it would the first he had romantic feelings for a boy.
but when asahi said:
❝ yes. yes, i think i do like someone ❞
did fully jaehyuk understand the pain once again. multiple emotions came crashing on to him. happiness. pride. sadness. anger. bitterness. jealousy. and most of all regret. the feeling of regret came hitting hard. the feeling that he should have confessed sooner because now he knew that someone else has asahi's attention.
so jaehyuk just put his lips into a thin smile. he said congrats. he wanted to pry. he wanted to ask. he wanted to know who the lucky person was. he wanted to know who caught asahi's attention. asahi hesitated for a moment. jaehyuk understood. you never really want to reveal who you liked, it was private. but jaehyuk really wished that it was him that asahi liked. it was him that caught the japanese male's attention.
❝ who do you like then asahi? ❞ asked jaehyuk with his eyes facing the window
however, whatever asahi said next caught him offguard.
❝ i think i like you yoon jaehyuk ❞
