When getting Kei under his control he makes it so she isn't too parasitic and can stand on her own and doesn't develop any romantic feelings. While neither develop romantic feelings they do develop feelings of friendship and perhaps even converse normally with each other and don't need to hide their friendship from the rest of the class.
Kei is still willing to help Kiyo and he doesn't give her tasks that are too difficult for her. Kiyo still says he will protect her if anything happens.
With this being the case you can ship Kiyo with any other girl you want.
A Kei that can tease and give advice to Kiyo about his romantic life would be quite refreshing. Things such as what clothes to wear, gifts to buy or what to do on a date are examples.
With them being friends and being open about it, Kei could possibly get along with the Ayanokouji group a bit better in this as well.
