We are not so unlike gems
Those multisided ores
For each of us has many facets to our whole
A colorful mosaic of shining originality
Others make assumptions
Based on our color, or a single one of our facets
But we defy assumptions
Assumptions crumble and crack, and then you can see the many facets of our gems
We shine in all colors, sparkle in all shapes, shine even on the brightest, most scrutinizing light
We aren't perfect
We have flaws too
Don't try to use our flaws against us
For our flaws are supported by our whole
Don't choose to see only one part because the rest defy your expectations
No one meets all of your expectations
So why should we?
We are human, we are gems, we are beauties with many facets and we defy expectations
