The Ocean

(The picture above I do own so please don't steal it or my poetry.)

There’s something to the sea

About the ocean

Running across the sand wearing a flower crown with the wind in your hair

Flying

An escape

A salty sandy wind strewn escape

The sand and the sea

The wind and the horizon

The freedom

The moon on the ocean

Wind blowing night air across the sand

If only I had wings

Then I could fly, really fly across the sand and the sea

Be one with the wind and the salty sea spray

Standing there yearning to grow wings

Then I could soar

Soar up up up with the gulls and down down down to skim the water

Drinking in the sea breeze

Swaying with the sea grass growing on the dunes

Sitting with the barnacle encrusted boulders

Swimming to the rhythm of waves

Just being

Existing in peace

I can stand in the storm

Let the rain and the sand and the salt and the sea swirl around me with the wind

Crash with the waves

Whoosh with the wind

Escape

Escape into the salt and the sea and the sand

Escape into the wind and fly to the horizon

Float out onto the waves

For that is the nature of the sea, it lets one escape

Absorbed in the beauty and the power

The fierceness and the risk

The yearning to be there

Among the dunes and the roses

The salt and the sand

The sea and the storm

The wind and the horizon

The sun and the moon

To be there, in a place between the stars

The sea

The midnight poetry

The legends of kelpies and mer

The ancient lore

The pull of the waves

To be there, among the wind and the waves

To be there, once again and forever

The ocean
