Truer words could not have been written down for posterity. It's said that poets often possess the power to look into the future with their vision, informed by the timelessness of human endeavours in situations good or bad.

This pithy poem from Walt Whitman's iconic poetry collection LEAVES OF GRASS, which I have been reading lately, struck me as being concurrent with our own reality.
