My cup overflows.
It is filled with sea-water
that I preserve.
Time is kinder
when the water recedes. The heart is like a riptide.
It can transliterate time
from another nation
where only you spoke
the language
we shared and survived on.My friend,
you have given me a lifetime
on this beach,
I ponder upon your fleeing words. You were the first
and the last man on this earth.
Our language
was considered to be extinct.
Our schools of thoughts like sandcastles. Now the bayous you haunt.
Returning to your day in the water. Returning to your ancestors. Returning to the water you can taste without suspicion or disdain. Returning to complete this life-cycle.***
