Chapter XVIII

"Zendaya! Baby stop! Z!" He finally caught up to her at the end of my drive way and picked her up throwing her over his shoulder.

"Devin put me down! I swear I'll cause a scene!"

"Go for it. Nobody can hear you. The next house is miles away" Devin walked back in the house laying her down on the couch.

"You can't run every time we go through something."

"Devin I've had my share of toxic and and believe me when I tell you I'm not up for anymore of it. If you wanna be with her then just fucking be with her! I refuse to be that girl that sticks around in bad relationships anymore. That shit gets deadly fast." Her eyes got glossy causing Devin face to soften.

"I can't compete with her Devin and I won't try to. Clearly that's who you wanna be with. I Love you but I won't fight over you. I have no more fight left in me. She can have you." She stood up and walked around Devin.

"Do I get to say anything before you just give me away like I'm a piece of food? & Where are you going? You didn't drive."

"You told me you love me. You don't tell someone you love them and then cheat on them days later! That's not love."

"I didn't - it was a kiss it was literally a kiss mamas. I was drunk and she was there and yes I know she shouldn't have been here to begin with but I was missing you -"

"So you slept with your ex?!"

"You not listening!" He ran his hand down his face. "Baby I didn't sleep with - matter fact I can prove it. We can pull up the cameras."

"You think I wanna see you kissing her?"

"I fucking love you Zendaya but you were gone from the world for two weeks and I got pissy drunk and I made a mistake that I regretted soon as it happened. I'm not trying to justify what I did because there's no way to justify it I fucked up but I'm not letting you walk away from me I love you to much for that. So please" Devin dropped down to his knees and wrapped his arms around her waist.

"There's nobody else I wanna be with. That kiss meant nothing. I will admit it lasted longer than it should've but it went no further than a kiss."

Zendaya sighed and ran her hand through his hair. "Devin I won't compete with her."

"There is no competition. I'm yours. It'll never happen again. I sincerely apologize" he looked up at her. "She can't compete where she doesn't compare. I love you Z"

They stared at each other for a long time before Zendaya finally said something. "I love you too" she caressed his face "please get off the floor now."

"I know you, I can hear it in your voice. You're still mad."

"Of course I am Devin, now thinks she still has a chance with you."

"But we know she doesn't."

"Do we?" She shrugged

"I do, and I hope that you do too. I promise nothing like this will ever happen again."

"How'd she end up here anyway. Like why is she even in Phoenix the bitch lives in California"

"I don't know why she was here. I went out with the guys. I got drunk and she was there giving me the attention I wanted from you but she was sober apparent she offered me a ride when none of the guys was ready to leave and she bought me back here. I sobered up and kicked her out soon as it happened. I don't know why she felt the need to come here today."

Zendaya stayed quiet looking at me. Devin stepped to her and grabbed her face "You gotta stop being so fast to run from me."

"Devin you know I'm not fully healed mentally, that call fucked me up and I - god" she sat on the couch pulling her knees to her chest. Tears pouring out her eyes and that shit broke Devin.
