Note: I wrote this tanka in response to the prompt 'Throw a party for heartbreak' by Amy Kay (@amykaypoetry on Instagram) borrowing a line from Mindy Nettifee's poem (I want to throw a party for the heartbreak that turned you into a poet). Tanka is a Japanese form of poetry that has five lines in the pattern of 5-7-5-7-7 syllables.

~~~~~
I burn memories,
drink glasses of suffering.
My wounds make music.
I waltz with my pain and hurt.
and I become a poet.
