A Romanogers Story

Chapter 13

It was the 25th April and Natasha woke up to be in the apartment alone at 09:00. She got out of bed and got ready for the day. She went into the living room and saw a note on the coffee table. It read, "Morning honey, I will be back before 09:30. I love you, Steve."

In town, where Steve was, he was out with Pepper trying to get Natasha birthday gifts and a cake. So far, they had bought a pair of sterling silver earrings with a matching necklace, a new handgun that has been created that can hold 28 bullets with an aiming eye and a light brown leather jacket. Pepper had thought up to buy the jewelry. 

At 9:21, Steve and pepper managed to buy a birthday cake and was on the way to the apartment. They got upstairs and Steve opened the door. Natasha was reading the book she had previously read. She looked up and saw the two holding things behind their backs. "Hi?" She said as she put down the book. Steve and pepper decided what order they wanted Natasha to have her presents in, but they hadn't wrapped them.

Natasha was given everything but the cake and handgun. Steve took out his phone to record her reaction, then presented the black box. Natasha didn't know what it was, so she took it from him and opened it. Her face immediately glowed with happiness to see a new handgun with a magazine already in it, then two more magazines beside it. She took out the gun and inspected it. She was careful, not to touch the trigger.

Cake had been eaten and presents neatly stacked. Pepper had to go home and Steve and Natasha thanked her.

Natasha shut the front door as Pepper left and as she did so, she felt gentle hands creeping around her waist holding her close, tightly. Steve rested his chin on Natasha's head and then pulled down her shirt a little to kiss her shoulder. Natasha's back was against Steve. She turned around and kissed Steve.

A few hours later, there was a knock at the door. Steve answered it and Natasha came out of the bedroom and saw it was Bucky. Bucky saw her too. "I didn't know you lived with a woman, Steve." Bucky looked back at him.

"Uuummm... yeah." Steve started to laugh, "we're acctually engaged." Natasha came over, smiled at Bucky, showed him the ring and kissed Steve. "Are you going to invite him in or are you just having a doorway chat?" She looked at Steve.

"Uuummm... no, come in Bucky." Bucky came in and looked round. "By the way, you might want to do your shirt and up. Oh, and your... 'flying low'." Steve's face turned bright red and he did his jeans up first. He then buttoned his shirt up and caught up with Bucky who was the other side of the living room looking out of the window, admiring the view.

"I'm just going out to meet up with Tony." Natasha walked up to Steve, kissed him and said goodbye to both men. Bucky started walking around. "You don't mind if I look around, do you?" He politely asked.

"Be my guest." Steve smiled at him. Bucky looked around the kitchen and back in the living room. He was about to walk in the bedroom, when Steve stopped him. Steve laughed, "You don't really want to go in there. It's all messy and I know you don't like mess." Steve hadn't made the bed after he and Natasha woke up in the morning.

"Oh no, it's alright." He walked in to see the duvet half on the bed, half on the floor and one pillow on the floor. "Oh wow. It looks like you've exploded a bomb in here." Bucky said as he walked into the bathroom. "Bathroom's pretty clean though." He smiled and went back into the living room.

"I can't believe your engaged and I don't even have a girlfriend. I mean, back in the day, you were hopless with women. Look at you now!" He put a hand on Steve's shoulder.

"I know, but I love Natasha more than I have loved anything. She has changed my life." Steve looked at the ground.

Bucky and Steve were watching TV when Natasha came in. Steve got up and greeted her with a gentle kiss. "Hi honey, hi Bucky!" She said as she shut the door behind her.

"Tony said he's going to post the wedding invitations next week." Natasha said as she sat with Steve on the sofa.

"Steve was talking to me about you, Nat. He said that he loves you more than anything else. He also said that you have changed his li-." Steve covered Bucky's mouth before he could say anything else.

"Aww, that's so sweet." She put a hand on Steve's chest and kissed him. They kissed twice, before Bucky moved Steve's hand off his mouth and quickly rushed, "I also think you are a cute couple!" Natasha looked over at him and said, "Thanks Bucky." She smiled after. Steve faced Bucky and whispered, "You were not meant to tell her! And you are making it sound like she is going to marry a douche!" Natasha heard, as the TV was quiet. She pulled gently at Steve's shoulder. He turned around and she said, "I think you are already a douche. I thought that when you first walked through the lift doors when you joined S.H.I.E.L.D." They kissed again while Bucky laughed.

At 21:52, Bucky went home. Steve and Natasha watched a Disney movie, got ready for bed and laid in bed awake. Steve spoke to Natasha, "I love you and I can't wait until I marry you." He kissed her.

The couple soon fell asleep and Natasha's back was facing Steve.
