Sinead

Quite unexpectedly, all of the scouts were called for an inspection of all ODM gear. I would imagine after the ramifications of the two Titans in our custody being killed, it doesn't come as a shock to me. It's a smart move on Erwin's part, considering that there's a spy amongst the ranks, and he had every intention of finding out.

Following my investigation of where Sawney and Bean were being kept, there weren't many promising leads outside of the footprint I brought to the attention of Captain Levi, Neveah, and Erwin. We were successful in uncovering that not only is there a spy amongst the ranks, but we have reason to suspect that whomever the spy is can turn into a Titan just like Eren based on the previous appearances of the Colossal and Armored titans. I asked Erwin for written documentation of all those who perished during the attack on Trost District prior to my squad being enlisted. There was one particular cadet who was tasked of being captain of the one of the squads. A Marco Bodt of the 104th Cadet Corps.

The reports stated that Jean was the identifier in the aftermath following the battle. His corpse was bitten in half by a Titan, but no ODM gear was present on his person when his body was recovered. It was a bit of a stretch, but I didn't find it coincidental that he was found dead with no gear anywhere in sight. Who in their right mind would leave their gear and weapons behind during a full blown attack? Sure, the cadets had ran out of gas, but this was completely different. It would be very interesting to see how this inspection went. Under Erwin's command, I was to present my gear as more of a way to observe what was going on, and the soldiers inspecting were privy of this as well. I remember the conversation we had with the two of us, Captain Levi, and Neveah present........

"Are you certain it wouldn't be giving me away at all? I don't know how smart or daft this spy might be, but I certainly prefer to not tip them off." I was trying to peace together the logic being explained to me.

Neveah was sitting on the edge of Erwin's desk. "It's a formality to throw off suspicion that you're watching them. The inspectors know already that you're not under our suspicion."

Erwin unfolded his hands from on top of the mahogany wood of his desk. "I concur with Captain Harris. It would be more to our advantage that you keep your eyes out than to have one of us do it. The spy will automatically assume the inspection is consistent with previous events, but they won't know what's being uncovered behind the scenes."

"Just be sure you don't screw it up. We're entrusting you to get the job done, Windsor." Captain Levi added, heading towards the door to make his leave.

It was a good idea he was leaving. His intellect doesn't touch mine anywhere in this universe. "When have you known me to be less than stellar?"

I was really curious to see what would be uncovered with this inspection. In the back of my mind, the suspect was female for certain, so I had no reason to keep tabs on a man, but I didn't assume anything. Anyone could catch smoke. I noticed Armin standing in front of me, keeping a low profile. He was speaking with Connie about which branch of the military they were finalizing within the next twelve hours, since the ceremony was this evening. I suppose Connie was deciding last minute to join the Survey Corps, but one little interaction caught my eye. Annie Leonhart, the queen of being anti-social. From the way I've caught Armin looking at her, he's crushing on her on the low. Armin is such a sweetie, the fact that he liked Annie was odd to me....., cute, but odd.
