I shakily handed him the book. Grabbing onto a chair he took a seat beside me. I watched him closely incredibly nervous. Who was this man and what did he want with that book?

He flipped through a few pages scanning them quickly. He spent a few minutes reading before he let out a sigh. He put the book down and laid his head against the table. His hood lifted slightly and small bits of golden hair fell from his hood.

"Um.."

He glanced up at me our eyes finally meeting. His golden eyes pierced my own and I became nervous again.

"Who are you?"

He blinked a few times before sitting up.

"You're not from around here are you."

My breath hitched at his words and I gripped tightly onto my chair.

"Please don't tell anyone.." I said lowly avoiding his gaze.

He let out a laugh in reply before giving my head a small pat.

"You don't have to worry! After all, I'm not supposed to be in here either..." He said mumbling the last part.

"A-Are you the intruder they were screaming about earlier?" I whispered.

He nodded his head in reply with a proud smile on his face.

"Anyways, that book you've got there is interesting. It's actually a diary. I saw you struggling to read it so I figured you might want some help."

"Thank you," I mumbled feeling a bit more comfortable with the strange man.

"Also may I ask why you're in here? Not many people come to the library so it really surprised me when I saw someone in here. Actually, if anything people aren't generally allowed in here."

I thought for a moment. Could I really trust him? He was wearing the same robe that most of the other cult members around here wore but if he really was the intruder maybe he could help me get out of here.

"Can I trust you?" I asked nervously.

I stared back into his eyes. This time showing him how serious I was. He stared back at me with the same intensity nodding his head.

"You can trust me I swear upon my honor."

Taking in a deep breath I exhaled out before speaking.

"I wandered into this place by accident. I was chased out of my home and while trying to escape I didn't have much of a choice but to come inside here. I was thinking about trying to escape from this place. At first, I thought I needed a disguise but after seeing how the people hardly reacted to my presence I figured I could just leave."

He shook his head in reply.

"Unfortunately that won't work anymore."

My heart began to speed up as I gripped my chair again.

"W-What do you mean?"

Had he lied? Did he trick me into admitting I was an outsider? My head was scrambled in panic as I watched him let out a sigh.

"The doors when you came in were unguarded right?"

My racing heart began to slowly calm down.

I nodded my head and he groaned.

"They're normally guarded, every single entrance. Which means people can't come in and out. I'm not sure why they weren't then, but maybe there was some sort of incident. I can almost bet there's no way you'll get out now."

I let out a sigh of relief.

It wasn't good news he had given me but it did make me trust him just a bit more. I figured he was going to come out and say something like 'Haha I tricked you' and then would throw me into a pit. Thankfully he didn't seem the type.

"If you really want to escape today we should go check to see if where you came out of is guarded. If it isn't make a run for it and if it is we will just come back here."

I nodded my head and getting up from my seat I remembered something important.

"Um I forgot to ask earlier but what's your name?"

He got up from his chair and extending his hand out toward me he spoke,

"Rengoku Kyojuro."
