I had come out from the ledge and was now left with two choices.

The path in front of me was closed off meaning I could only go left or right. Most people seemed to be going right and as tempting as it was to follow something was telling me it was a bad idea.

Yes, I'd blend in better but who knows where they would be going.

Deciding to do the opposite of everyone I began to make my way down the left hallway.

Most of the people heading to the right were normal people. My nerves began to calm down as they completely ignored me.

My biggest fear at the moment would be someone trying to interact with me because I wasn't sure how things worked around here. Right now my main goal was to find something to help me escape this whole village.

I could've always tried to rob one of the strange-looking men but they had swords and me? Well, I had a cracker or two in my pocket.

I walked past the people trying to keep my head down. My hair covered my face as I walked through the hallways. As I kept going straight forward I ended up in a new room.

Tilting my head up I discovered that I was now inside a library.

The library seemed to be the only empty place in this building.

Letting a smile graze my lips I cautiously walked over to a bookshelf, making sure every seat was empty as I went.

Torches hung from the walls and pits of fire were scattered across the room. Not only that but there was a large statue in the middle of it all. What had the people here done to this place?

Scanning one last time I walked over to one of the many bookshelves in the room. I picked a book up off the shelf only to let out a sigh.

The book was in a whole other language and judging by the titles of the other books, they were as well. If all the books here were in other languages I wasn't going to learn much about this place.

I really was just better off asking someone. The only thing that held me back was fear. I didn't know these people and they didn't know me. Clearly, something was going on here and I wasn't sure whether I really wanted to know. Not to mention trying to get one of those hoods would be very difficult.

If all of the masked people had swords they'd cut me down in seconds.

The good part about this library though was it seemed pretty empty. With all the people in the hallways, you'd think there would be more here but it seemed not.

This would make a good hiding place for later on if I had to stay long. That's as long as it didn't fill up like crazy.

The sound of footsteps began to echo down the hallway and by the looks of it, they were getting closer. My heartbeat started to pick up a bit and I put the books back before hurrying to the upper floor.

I crouched down behind the wall only peeking over to see two girls walking into the room. They both seemed pretty normal-looking as they chatted and laughed.

"Hey did you hear... apparently they're doing another initiation soon." The one girl said as they walked over to a bookshelf.

"Really! We should try this time!" The other girl squealed in excitement.

"But w-what if we don't make it..."

In a blink of an eye, someone had appeared behind them.

"Do you doubt the master?" The excitement from before had faded from the other girl's face.

Both of them went silent and the room grew cold. They turned back fear-stricken as they stared at the unexpected guest.

My own heart had picked up and I brought a hand to my mouth to cover it.

They tensed up and immediately started apologizing and trying to explain themselves.

"You do not deserve to join us, but the master is kind. If you come to the church now he will be merciful."

Both girls nodded their heads in reply as the man had begun to escort them toward the door. Before leaving the unknown mam tilted his head back. My heart dropped to my chest and I ducked down to avoid his gaze.

He had turned back only to look exactly where I was hiding. My hand continued to cover my mouth as they walked further from the library. My breathing had increased a lot and nervousness set in.

Had he seen me?
