They all look majestic but most of them give out a dangerous aura, especially the Captain of the Purple Orca, I sense bad luck with him. I should probably not get involved with him

After giving myself the mental note, I looked towards Yuno but he was looking intently at the podium where the Captains stood. I looked towards Asta but he was also doing the same, I sighed

I should watch out for these two, especially Asta he might get into trouble

(Y/N) POV

The Hoo-ha guy didn't bother naming the last captain's name, but I already knew him cause of the rumors spreading around.

Huh. So that's the Captain of the Black Bulls, Yami Sukehiro

From my view, it seemed like the captain of Golden Dawn and the captain of the Black Bulls were having a small conversation.

"The Captains are all here." The Hoo-ha guy said in awe

NARRATOR

It's said that each of the captains has the power of a hundred mages. And one of them will be the next Magic Emperor.

"Where's the Magic Emperor?" Asta asked eyeing the balcony.

"Hoo-Ha" Sekke whose name I just learned from Asta

"Come on! The Magic Emperor would not come to the Exam. It's already a miracle that all captains are present." Sekke continued looking at Asta.

"Examinees." William got the attention of the whole stadium.

"Sorry to keep you waiting, I will be in charge of this exam." He continued as he brought out his Grimoire.

"Magic Tree, DESCEND"

As William said these words, the once clear sky was full of dark clouds preventing any sunlight from passing through. A large gust of air swept through the crowd as they tried to hold their ground. I held on to Yuno trying not to fly away, Yuno in return tightened his grip around my waist and used his other arm to keep the dust away from his eyes. In the midst of the happening, roots came out from the sky reaching toward the earth in green light. Everyone gasped in shock and fear, but the ends of the roots became smaller and turned into brooms.

The brooms were handed out to the people in the stadium and the sky cleared once again. I took my broom after Yuno let go of me to receive his, I didn't know what was going through Yuno and Asta's head but the looks on their face was serious

Now I know how powerful the candidate for the next Magic Emperor is.

I was in awe when I saw how much control the Captain of Golden Dawn had when displaying his magic. I gripped my broom tighter and smirked

Let's see how fast I can climb up the ranks and beat Asta and Yuno to the crown

"Now then, let the Magic Knights Entrance Exam begin," William announced to the whole crowd.

"You will receive several tests. Nine Captains will evaluate your performances. And pick the talent we need on our squads. If chosen, you will join the squad. If selected by more than one squad, you may make your pick. And if not chosen, you will not be able to join any squad."

I looked worriedly at Asta,

I know me and Yuno might be able to join a squad, but for Asta... I'm not sure. So Asta please get in, I'm cheering for you.

"In the first exam, please hop on that broom and fly" William instructed the examinees. The crowd murmured amongst themselves about the first task.

"Mages who can control magic powers should be able to do it. It's the most basic way for mages to go places. You are not qualified if you can't even fly on a broom. So, please start." William stretched his arm out to signify that we can start.

I have no problem with this, as I practiced with my mother for a celebration that was stopped mid-way because of a... problem.

I snapped out of my daydream, and climbed onto my broom effortlessly. Then as the Captain of Golden Dawn instructed, I started to fly on the broom with many others following my lead. I surfed on my broom for a while looking for Asta and Yuno. I found Yuno standing on his broom doing the same action as me, so I waved at him to get his attention. Luckily, he saw me within a second and walked toward me. I continued searching for Asta, but it wasn't really hard cause he was the only one standing on the ground. I wouldn't have laughed at him if he didn't look like he was taking a considerable shit instead of trying to make a broom fly!

THIRD PERSON POV

The captains scanned through the crowd of people observing how they controlled their mana, but within the crowd, the Captains always kept their eyes on three kids, a laughing (h/c) girl, a raven haired boy, and an ash-grey-haired boy.

"The (h/c)-haired girl has great control of her mana, same goes for the black-haired boy. But then there is the grey-haired boy who is the only one on the ground." The Captain of the Silver Eagles commented to the other Captains, which nodded in agreement.

"No matter how much one might be lacking in talent, they should at least be floating," The Captain of the Crimson Lions, Fuegoleon, replied placing his hand under his chin.

The Captain of the Silver Eagles, Nozel, stood up and walked away after looking to the side and asking the other Captains to excuse him. On the first level of the stadium, in the shadows, a girl, who wore her long silver hair in twin tails and held a broom tight in her grasp, was about to step out of the shadows but was stopped by Nozel who seemed to know her.

"What are you doing?" said Nozel coldly, the girl tried to come up with an excuse but was stopped by Nozel again.

"I already told you. There's no need for royalty to take the same exam as peasants." The girl tried to protest but Nozel turned around saying

"Your destination has already been decided. Do not take unnecessary action." The girl dropped her head and replied,

"Yes, Brother Nozel," Nozel then walked away saying

"Your existence itself is unnecessary." The girl grunted in defeat and gripped her broom tighter in anger.
