Okay... I know.. you all hate me for the long wait... again. :) But you can't hate the author that you love.

Me and Caden walked back towards the cabin, my hand already back in my personal space knowing Rex wouldn't love to see that. She wasn't trying to hide it... whatever 'it' is...

She saw Rex come out of the cabin in a rush, seeing me instantly hearing him sigh heavily in relief. He jogged over to me, embracing me in a big hug.

"Where the hell have you been?! I've been worried sick!" Rex said, worry clear in his voice and eyes once he pulled away to look at me.

"I was going out for a walk..." I just started but Caden cut me off.

"With me, just scouting the area."

I looked back at him and smiled slightly, glad that he covered for me. Rex would kill me if I just wandered off stupidly like that.

"Well why didn't you tell me?" Rex growled now turning angry.

"I don't need to tell you where I go! I'm not six! And your not my father either!" I growled back, now angry myself. What was wrong with him? Was he on his period or something?

He glared at me then glared at Caden, "Leave please, i'd like to talk to her alone." He demanded, but a small part in his voice was peaceful. Sort of.

Caden looked at me making me roll my eyes and nod letting him now ill be fine. He nodded and walked away, leaving me alone with Rex. I turned back to him and sighed taking his hand and leading him back into the cabin, getting a little chilly.

"Why do you have to be like that? You know I can handle myself..."

"I just... I can't stand it if I lost you too... I wouldn't have anything to fight for if you left me..." He frowned and held my waist once we entered the cabin.

I sighed and looked down, placing my hands were his were and tightened them myself.

"I know... But... We all have to be strong..." I said, kind of hesitant with my words since that meant i'd have to be.

He nodded at my words before looking into my eyes, concern shown in them for sure before he leaned in and kissed me softly.

I didn't know what to do, I didn't have time to react so there we were, kissing, in the middle of the cabin. I thought I told him that I didn't want a relationship, or couldn't have one for that matter in this world and yet, here he is! Kissing me! Why don't guys ever listen? And why aren't I pulling away? Melanie? Are you enjoying this? No! you can't! Pull away, pull away, pull away....

I placed my hand against his chest and slowly pushed him away gently, looking into his eyes after our lips released one another. Was i... Kissing him back? My god.

He looked at me, having a hard thinking look on his face before pulling his whole body away and stepped back, running his hand through his hair.

"I-I'm sorry..." He said with a slight frown, realizing he shouldn't have made that move.

I just stared at him but not in a mean manner or anything, just curious to what he would do next, not saying anything. But instead he walked out of the cabin feeling that he was either awkward or embarrass but I didn't stop him, I don't really know what i'd say if I did.

I stayed inside for a bit, pacing the room in thought, not just about the kiss but everything that has happened, but mostly the kiss. I felt cold inside my body, thinking how many people we lost. I tried to remember the good times when our group was working fine with the whole situation. I would try to hold onto that memory of my life before the apocalypse but that's too far away from reality in my head to remember so the days with the group were the only peaceful memorys.

I heard a knock on the door, snapping me out of my thoughts. "Come in!" I called out before sitting down on the bed trying to look intrested in my nails even though they looked like complete crap.

"Hey..." Caden said making me look up and smile slightly.

"Hi." I said, standing up. "Is there something wrong?" I asked feeling like he had something to tell me just the way he said 'hey'.

"Uh.. ya. Were going on a run into town, were running low on food. Everyone is coming." He stated, looking at me curiously to see if that was okay with me.

"Ya sure." I simply said before walking to the side and grabs my gun, slumping it over my shoulder before walking out with him following me.

I saw the truck ready and running once Kyle saw me and Mack in the back with the gun propped on the top of the truck. Rex sat beside Kyle in the front leaving the seats in the back for me and Caden which wasn't a problem, not excited to sit by an awkward Rex.

Soon after we were on the road, twenty minutes away from the town. My eyes glanced at Caden who was looking outside so I looked where he looked.

Drudges, and a lot of them too.

As soon as we pulled up in front of the abandoned Safeway we got out, gun's at the ready as we scurried into the store.

It was quiet, too quiet for that matter. I pushed my gun to my side letting it hang there because of the strap and started to dump cans of food into the first bag before passing it to Kyle.

I then starting to load up on water with the next bag for emergencies if we couldn't reach the stream which provided us clean water near the cabin, and handed it to Rex quietly.

The third was female toiletries, mostly female things and handed it to Mack with a slight grin making him cringe and holds the bag. Baby.

Last bag was the filled with medicine and food and I handed it off the Caden and stands straight up only to hear noise behind us, turning around to see a fat ass drudge.

"Wow." Mack's voice was heard making Kyle snicker only to shoot with a pistol hitting him in the head easily.

"Guess they ate all the people who tried to get food." Kyle explained with a shrug as we started heading out. Once we stepped outside, probably a mile away was a massive horde of them, surrounding us.

"Shit... Get to the truck!" Rex yelled as we started to run, dumping the bags into the back before Mack jumped on top and propped his gun once again. We all got in and started to drive forward, Kyle looking everywhere but not seeing an opening. They were completely around us but the more spread out they were, the less there was behind each one.

"Safeway isn't 'safe' anymore as you can see..." Mack joked from outside making Kyle smirk.

"Mack! Shoot the front line while Kyle rams through them!" He yelled outside only for me to look at him bewild.

"WHAT?! Ram through them?! Are you crazy?!" I yelled at him, knowing it might be possible but there was a high chance the weight of them as we rammed them would slow us down and give them a chance to pile onto the car.

"We don't have a choice!" He growled at me only to nod at Kyle making him step on the gas towards one of the weakest points of them.

I took out my gun and rolled down the window, shooting the front line while Mack did the same, two seconds after I was jerked forward once we hit the Drudges, Caden as well making me hit the seat in front of me, knocking me out, darkness swallowing me in.
