My lungs burn as water fills them, before my eyes open making me gag up the rest of the water. My head jerks from one side to the other as I look for the unusual Drudges, seeing I was on the side of a huge river, but only to find Caden next to me, his hair wet and dripping down making it look longer then usual.

"W-What happened?" I asked a bit shaky since the water was colder then I was used to.

"You weren't waking up so I did CPR on you, we have to move quickly..." He said in a dismissive tone like he just didn't save my life.

Point one for Caden...

I sigh and get up with a nod, my clothes as wet as possible making it harder to move in them but I manage to stand, draining out some water from my shirt before searching the ground for my gun but as soon as I ask where it is, Caden hands it to me with a small smile making me smile back in thanks. I throw it over my shoulder and follow him into the woods in an unknown direction.

"Is that the way back to camp?" I ask, trying to unplug my ears which was full of water.

"No." He said bluntly, making me stop dead in my tracks with a confused look on my face.

"No? Why not? We must!" I demanded, grabbing his arm so he can speak with me face to face.

He looked at me with a sigh, a hard cold expression on his face.

"We can't just go back, one, Its dangerous, and two, They probably already left." He growled back.

"They wouldn't have left without us!" I yelled with a pained expression. They wouldn't just leave us...

"If they were smart, they would have. The Boom Drudges probably went after them too, they must have gotten out... We gotta keep moving, keep an eye out for a car or truck, then we will go find them.. Promise." He said soothingly, noticing that I was hurt.

Which I was. My brother is in danger, I don't even know if he is alive or not. Also Rex... Oh Rex....

My legs moved me past Caden with a slight nod of agreement but my mouth kept shut as we walked through the quiet forest, my mind loosely wrapping around the idea of my brother being dead, making my stomach turn upside down unpleasantly.

We finally make it to a quiet road, trees surrounding its sides as it goes down the never ending pavement. We start walking down the road, not seeing one Drudge as our feet drag behind us, my hair whipping back as I look and hope for a car with my brother and the only guy I could trust in this world, but all I saw was an empty road and the feeling of an empty heart. A sigh escaped me as we kept walking endlessly, giving up looking back as my eyes were set on my feet which were killing me.

Possibly an hour later a trucks motor was heard in the distance, making both mine and Caden's head spin around seeing a small blue truck coming our way. We kept our guns at our hips as we stopped caustiously but a sudden hope was shinning in my chest as we waited for the truck to come to us.

I recognized who it was as it came closer, It was Kyle.

He pulled up the truck beside us as he unlocked to doors, letting us in. He was certainly out of breath with blood and sweat dripping down from his face.

"What Happened?" I asked a bit panicked, but sick of asking that question when I know I don't want to hear the answer.

"Drudges... these really freaky Drudges came at us from out of the blue, there were chunks of bodies flying everywhere..." He said shakily as he started to drive again down the road. I could tell he was a bit traumatized, but what I really wanted to hear is what happened to my only family.

He could see it in my eyes as he glanced at me from the road, his own eyes reflecting his fear, but he continued for my sake, reminding me that he was one of those brothers who picked on you but really did love you inside.

"We... got out on time... most of us anyway. Most of your group," He directed to Caden, "Helped quite a bit with saving the women and children which was greatly appreciated, securing our alliance im sure... And Daniel and Rex got out fine, Daniel was a bit shaken up last time I saw him, but he's alright, mostly worrying about you. He's scared..." Kyle explained with a sigh, ending his part in the conversation as he focused on the road.

Daniel is okay... Rex is okay... a sudden load was lifted off my shoulder or should I say my heart hearing this kind of news made me swell up with happiness... but I needed to see them for myself, I needed to make sure they were safe in my arms...

"Where are they now?" I asked, eagered to get my boys back.

"Well... That's the problem. I don't know..." Kyle answered, and as he did, that sudden weight was back on my shoulders.

I was sad for a few hours, happy for a few seconds, then obliterated in milliseconds.
