"I don't like the way he looks at you." Jungkook frowns, slapping the bubbles.
"How does Hyun Soo look at me?"
"Like how I look at you."
I furrow my brows at him. I move from my side of the tub, closer to him, careful not to get my joint wet. I was slightly intrigued at what he had to say. "And how exactly do you look at me?"
"I love you." He simply says. His eyes searching my face for any sort of emotions. I just lean my back into his arms without saying a word. The only sound in the bathroom was the sound of the lavender scented water sloshing around.
"Jade." He breaks the silence. I just wanted him to be quiet. I just wanted him to stop talking.
"What are we?" He continues.
Damn it. Why did he have to ask that?
"We're fake boyfriend and girlfriend." I state the obvious. I could tell my answer upset him when he stopped rubbing circles into my arm. "Jungkook. We've had this conversation so many times already that last 3 months and we agreed no strings attached."
"No. You agreed."
"Listen. When we started this, I made it clear where I stood. No feelings. No emotions. You said you were fine with it."
I climb onto him and straddle him with my legs. One hand running up and down his chest.
"We've had this conversation so many times. Our relationship is just a formality. The moment the contract expires next month, you'll be on to bigger and better things. So, can you please stop bringing this up and just have fun?"
Jungkook breaks eye contact with me and looks away.
"Hey you're the one who came up with this idea." I grab him by the jaw so that he's facing me again.
"That was before, when I thought you didn't have any feelings for me."
I squint my eyes at him. "Who said I have feelings for you?" I move to get off of his lap when he pulls me back.
"I'm sorry. Let's just forget this. Let's just have fun." Jungkook's voice was barely above a whisper.
I caress his face with my free hand. "Let's just have fun." I took a long drag of my joint and swirled it inside of my mouth. I squeezed Jungkook's cheeks to make him open it and slowly exhales the smoke into his mouth, giving his lower lip a nibble as I pulled away.
Jungkook took it all and I was quite surprised to see him not choke at all.
"Someone's experienced." I smirk as he blows out the smoke. He plucks the roll out of my hand and brings it to his lips. I guess he's not the good boy that his company thinks he is. Bad influence my ass.
I climb off of him and move to the other side of the tub. I bring my knees to my chest and rest my head on it as I watch him blow rings out. I giggle as I poke my finger through each ring, sending a smile to his face.
-
The ringing of my phone blared through the room, waking me up from my sleep.
Who the hell is calling me at this hour?
Jungkook's arm tightens around my waist as I lean over to check my phone. The bright light of my phone screen blinds me as I try to read the caller ID. Hyun Soo?
"Hey what's going?" I answer the call immediately.
"Jade." Hyun Soo says through the phone. He sounded stressed.
I can hear the loud music from the club through the phone.
"Who is it?" Jungkook grumbles beside me.
"Hey, is everything okay?" I ask Hyun Soo.
"Ji Eun got sick, so I sent her home. I really need you to come in and take over the rest of her shift. It'll only be 2 hours."
"Hyun Soo, I was sleeping." I throw my body back onto the bed in annoyance.
"I know it's the middle of the night. I'm so sorry, but we're so packed today and understaffed. I had two people call out on me tonight." He pleads.
I felt so bad for him, knowing first hand how rough work can get with even just one person missing. "Alright. I'll be there in twenty." I give in.
"Thank you thank you so much Jade. I mean it."
I hang up the phone and slide out of bed, putting my clothes on.
"Where are you going?" Jungkook looks up in confusion.
"They called me in for work." I sigh, clasping my bra.
He frowns at me. "That was Hyun Soo?"
"Yea. The clubs packed today and he's understaffed."
"You should have said no." He sits up. "Why do you always listen to whatever he says."
I stare at him dumbfounded. "He's my boss."
"Your boss shouldn't be calling you at 2 in the morning."
"That's the nature of my job, Jungkook. The club doesn't close till 4. He has free reign to call me in whenever." I scoff.
"Do you like him?"
Jungkook's question makes me stop in my tracks.
"This isn't the first time he's done this. Every time he calls you, you come running. Today, it's to come in for work, but last week it was so you could pick his drunk ass up from a bar. That's not a professional relationship Jade. Who is he to you?" Jungkook starts to raise his voice.
I roll my eyes at him. "It's none of your business who he is to me. You're not my keeper, so stop sticking your nose in places where it doesn't belong."
"It is my business. What if someone sees you hanging out with some other guy. That's a headline right there!"
I scoff at him. "If that's what you're worried about then fine. I'll make sure I'm extra careful." I finish changing into my uniform and grab my purse. "I want you out of my house by the time I get back from work." I glare at him before slamming the door on the way out.
I was furious at Jungkook for acting like he's my boyfriend when he's not. I'm a big girl. I can decide to go into work if I want. I can go pick up a drunk friend at the club if I want. Who's he to complain about it? Ever since we started sleeping together, these past couple of months have just been him nagging at me about Hyun Soo and I was sick of it. He keeps acting like he's my boyfriend when he's not!
We don't have meals together and we don't go on dates unless it's planned by Big Hit. When we fuck, he always leaves before I'm awake and vice versa.
I know how Jungkook is feeling right now. He won't stop reminding me how much he wants a real relationship with me and it's honestly suffocating. The more he pushes that agenda onto me the more I want to give in, but I know I can't give in because that will only lead to me looking like a fool in the end.
Jungkook and I would just have to be satisfied with the current status of our relationship. A no string attached kind of thing. It's the safe and best option for the two of us.
"Keep your heart cold." I remind myself.
