Bakugo felt like shit the next day as well, but he knew he couldn't miss out on work.
It wasn't about the fear of a budget cut, though. He knew he had enough money to live his life normally without working anymore even now if he wanted to. No, it wasn't that.
School, training, work, just enough sleep to go by and just enough food to be able to perform well. That was all there was to his life, occasionally fueled by the desire to win and assholes like Togata and Todoroki who are constantly either right on his tail or even in front of him.
Additionally, even sometimes by Kirishima. Their friendship was tied closely with not just their movie nights and hangouts, but also by their nearly duotic hero careers, the pair having been formed possibly even back in high school, and he was someone that was also in his life because he was strong and connected to his career and goal.
What he wasn't used to, though, was having to worry about someone other than himself.
Kirishima was strong. The rest of the BakuSquad was strong. His comrades were all strong. Hell, he couldn't lie, his rivals were strong as well, so he didn't need to give a crap about them, either.
Deku wasn't though. He was just an omega, and quirkless as well, constantly endangered by all the things around him that neither he nor Bakugo could control. And...Bakugo couldn't admit it, but he was addicted to him now. He didn't know what he'd do if Deku would leave. He didn't know what he'd do if Deku was suddenly in danger.
His senses tingled phantomly at the thought, making his nervousness deepen even more and more thoughts swarm his mind.
He didn't know why he couldn't stop thinking about it, but it had been distracting him throughout all his patrol.
And, well, that's where it brought him now.
"I don't need a fucking break! Kirishima, you traitor, what the hell?!"
Bakugo fumed as he glared at his so-called 'friend' and Hakamada, otherwise known as Best Jeanist (and the boss of the agency), doing his best to keep himself from wincing as he felt pain in his shoulder from a newly formed wound.
May he note, though, that it had already been treated and it didn't hurt as badly. So why did they suddenly feel like he needed to take a break because of something so pathetic?! It didn't make sense!
Sure, he had messed up. During patrol, because he was so distracted, he ended up letting one of the criminals escape, as well as getting injured pretty badly—a stab to his shoulder that resulted in a currently wrapped up upper arm, the bandages a faded shade of red. However, the stab wound wasn't too deep, and he'd had way worse. It made him even more infuriated that they were treating him as if something as small in his opinion as this would keep him from working.
Sure, he didn't mind taking a day break to just relax and let the wound heal so that it wouldn't start bleeding at the smallest of movements, but this...he didn't want a fucking whole-week break! Like hell!
Kirishima and Hakamada were sitting in the chairs of the emergency room, and Bakugo was getting angrier by the second as the shock and the aftermath of the medicine faded as he processed his situation.
Kirishima knew just how important work was to him, and yet, he had gone to Hakamada, and having a good reputation and charisma, persuaded him to give Bakugo a fucking break. A fucking week long break!
He growled aloud as he kept on glaring at Kirishima, Kirishima looking away somewhat guiltily but still not saying anything.
"It's just a week off, Bakugo. We'll let you come back to the agency once you cool down and clear your head. Besides, you'll only be doing paperwork once you're back because of your shoulder, so I see no harm in you going and doing something other than work for a change."
