"Deku? You mean, Izuku? Izuku Midoriya?" Mitsuki evidently seemed more alert, and Katsuki could tell this was going to be a tough conversation. He had no idea how his mother would react, but he truly hoped it wouldn't be like Inko—because if so, he was going to give up on it. Not because he didn't love Deku, but because it was just too painful for him.
He had always been a lone wolf, but when he needed someone, there were always people like Kirishima by his side, people who were understanding. And yet, what if he had truly fucked up this time? Which he had, and yet, it suddenly felt too painful to admit it. Still, glancing at his mother again, he could see that she had noticed what he was feeling and had somewhat toned it down.
"What about him?"
"I found him." Mitsuki blinked. She blinked again. She opened her mouth and then closed it, unsure what to say. Or, as Katsuki realized, unsure how to say it.
"You don't mean as in corpse...?"
"No! Fuck, no, it's not that!" Katsuki was taken aback, but he could see why she would think that.
There had been a few cases he had heard about that included finding dead omegas, with their bodies preserved after death to keep using them. All that had been found were shown signs of rape, and it wasn't hard to think that Deku could've been the case.
The thought made Katsuki shudder.
"Thank god." Mitsuki mumbled, shaking her head as she let out a genuinely relieved sigh. Katsuki stayed silent for a few moments, trying to regroup his thoughts as his imagination flashed him an all too vivid image of Deku's half naked corpse, eyes half-lidded and dull, long dried tears staining his cheeks and the collar on his neck torn off...
"It's not that." He grunted out, more to himself than Mitsuki. Mitsuki seemed to realize that and didn't respond, waiting for Katsuki to continue. However, waiting wasn't her strongest personality trait.
"Katsuki, how did you find him? Where is he now?"
"He's with his mom." For some reason, he felt like it wasn't right to call her auntie Inko.
"But how?" Mitsuki pushed again, leaning forward, her eyes slightly wide in disbelief. Katsuki could feel his anger rising, and he was slightly glad it did. It was always easier for him to speak when he felt angry, than when he felt the other sappy emotions.
"He's a pet." He simply stated, but he could feel himself break into a cold sweat the moment he did. Mitsuki frowned at that, leaning back, and sat there quietly for a few seconds, seeming to connect the dots.
"You mean he's your pet?"
"Yeah. Or at least was. I don't know what he is to me now." Katsuki averted his eyes again, glaring at the wall behind his mother as he remembered sitting in the apartment complex next to the trash can, realizing he had lost Deku...
It hurt. It really did. But his current frustration that he could feel slightly fading by now was helping him stay together, and he kept going before he lost it.
"I brought him back to his mom, but it's been about two weeks since I found him. When I told her that, she was mad. Feral. I can't blame her, but I don't think she'll let me see Deku again."
"Wait, so you didn't tell Inko about him until two weeks later?"
"I fucking couldn't, okay?! I felt like shit since our first day!"
"What are you talking about? You still should've told her! Were you feeling that unwell, or–"
"I wasn't sick, dammit! The moment I took him home, he jumped onto me and we..." Katsuki felt his anger fade away completely, and his breath hitched, cutting him off mid-sentence. However, he knew he had to finish. As painful as it was, he had already called Mitsuki here, and she couldn't help him if she didn't know all the truth.
