Katsuki couldn't believe he was actually doing it. As respectful as the clerk was trying to be, it was obvious he didn't believe his eyes either. However, knowing that he had to respect the privacy of the hero in front of him, considering this store was made specifically for people who had a higher status and didn't want to be gossiped about, he did his best to stay calm.
It didn't really work. Katsuki could've sworn he saw a bead of sweat form on the side of the man's forehead.
"So?"
"Right! Pardon me. Rubies, you say?"
"Yeah."
The clerk nodded and began to take out the ruby necklaces he had in stock.
"There aren't many. However, may I recommend one?" Katsuki nodded. He wasn't the best at picking jewelry, and even though he wouldn't admit it, he didn't mind the clerk's help.
The clerk took out a necklace with a silver chain, which shone brightly beneath the white light from the lamp the clerk put it under, but it wasn't what caught Katsuki's attention. What caught his attention was the red ruby, shaped in a way that made it look like a heart, a silver frame around it emphasizing the shape.
It was beautiful.
"This is..."
"Gorgeous, isn't it? I'm not trying to gain credit for this, I'm only a clerk, but this is indeed one of the prettiest necklaces here. People are more distracted with richer diamonds nowadays, and not everyone notices the beauty in simple shape and color." The clerk smiled gently, and Katsuki pursed his lips. He was glad the clerk was looking at the necklace and not him, because he could feel a nervous, impatient blush form on his face.
"It's perfect." Katsuki admitted. The clerk nodded.
"Your mate will love it for sure. Eyes are something that are way deeper than they seem to their owner. And this...is a replica, is a reflection of your own eyes. And eyes are the windows to the soul. Ever heard of that saying?" Katsuki nodded. He understood what the clerk meant, and for the first time, he didn't hide the fact that he was impressed. His glare faded.
"I'm taking it."
"Good choice. You won't regret it." Katsuki knew he wouldn't.
He couldn't wait to see Izuku again.

"Izuku...?" Deku flinched, snapping out of his sleep. He shifted, his eyelids feeling heavy and his vision blurred, but he immediately started to sit up and wipe the sleep from his eyes.
"Hey, hey–"
"Toya?" Deku blinked rapidly, trying to clear his vision, until it finally cleared.
Toya looked back at him, his gaze intense but his eyes more worrying than anything.
"Izuku...goddammit, I actually made it here." Toya shook his head in disbelief, slightly smiling to himself. He slowly began sitting up, but he hissed and clutched around the wound on his abdomen in pain. Deku immediately reacted by nudging him down, but not pulling away. The two rolled on their sides, Toya slightly flinching but otherwise seeming to relax.
"Yeah...you did. You really did." Deku pressed a hand on his cheek softly, touching the scars and lightly stroking over the stitches. They weren't there before when he left. The scar tissue was darker too.
"It's awful, isn't it?" Toya scoffed slightly, but still pressed his face closer towards Deku's hands, nuzzling into it.
"Your hair's black now..." Deku quickly changed topics, knowing all too well he couldn't answer that. It wasn't awful, no, it was more painful, painful to see his alpha like this, but he knew he would be lying if he did say it didn't look awful.
