"Good morning, Katsuki. You're just in time—I just finished making breakfast for you."

Remember how Katsuki said he could get used to waking up with a tasty meal waiting for him? Well, he could, but Deku's cooking never ceased to impress him.

This time, he made an omelette with melted cheese and cube-cut sausages, and Katsuki blinked in surprise. He knew omelettes were easy to make, and yet, he couldn't imagine making something like this everyday like Deku did—what kind of resolve does it take to get up in the morning and have to stand next to a stove for, what, almost half an hour, just to make breakfast?

As soon as Katsuki put some of the food in his mouth, he barely kept his composure as Deku glanced at him, waiting for some sort of reaction or feedback.

"This is pretty damn good." Katsuki muttered through a full mouth, feeling a blush heat up his cheeks as he did his best to slow down, while also doing his best to stuff his mouth to feel more of the perfect flavor. To say it was good was an understatement, but it was already embarrassing enough that he looked like he was going to swallow everything because of how amazing the food was.

"Thank you. I'm glad you liked it."

Although, when Deku said that and turned around to clean the pan he made the omelette with, Katsuki's mood couldn't help but sour.

He knew it wasn't the omega's fault, but now, he was once again acting like the pet he was before. He didn't get it at all. They had almost kissed the day prior, they shared such a moment a week or so ago, and yet he could so easily act the same way he had before any of that happened. Did he seriously not feel the change? Did he not feel that feeling that Katsuki had in those moments?

Was Katsuki really just imagining their closeness?

"Is something wrong?" Deku asked, alert at Katsuki's strange behavior. Katsuki glanced at him, his eyes slightly lingering on Deku's emeralds, but he then turned back towards his food and started eating again. He was no longer stuffing the food in his mouth, focusing more on eating than on thinking as he did his best to get his mind off what he was feeling.

"Nah." He stated simply, excusing the short answer with continuing to eat, keeping his mouth full. Deku hummed somewhat half-heartedly, unsure of what he was supposed to do, before turning around towards the plates again, focusing on them instead.

A few minutes later, Katsuki left, yelling a quick 'I'm going' to him before shutting the door behind him.

Deku couldn't help but let out a long sigh of exhaustion. However, it wasn't only because he woke up so early in the morning, unable to sleep anymore, or because he was tired of cooking.

It wasn't that he was faking his calmness. Rather, he was over-exaggerating it, focusing on that feeling instead of the other one that caused a slight painful ache in his chest.

There was much he had to process, and yet, even though he had so much time, he couldn't focus on one thing or the other, and as soon as the plates were all clean, he couldn't help but start to ponder again, the simple thoughts easily turning into deeper, more complex ones, as he reminded himself of what had happened both yesterday and a couple days prior.

There was still so much he didn't know and understand. Was Nariko okay? Who was taking care of her while her parents were rehabilitating? Did her ears heal? Was she going to suffer from trauma? Did she want to see him again? If so, would they get to? How?

Then there was him.

He hadn't seen him in years, and when he saw him, so calmly reaching out towards him and offering him a hand, his brain practically short-circuited. He remembered their small conversation well, and yet, until the battle was way over and he was already in the hospital, he hadn't truly processed what had happened.
