Footsteps echoed in the hallway of the talent building as I stood in front of 3 judges. It was finally my turn to show them what I was all about, so I closed my eyes and I danced. I had decided to cover a famous song for reference but add my own dance break to it. I decided to cover BTS' Fire, but I added their other song Not Today as a mix for the dance break. I had thought the two would showcase my confidence that I OBVIOUSLY was mimicking. After dancing, I smirked for the classic Min Yoongi ending. The judges looked slightly impressed and I internally smiled.
"I see that you're fluent in Korean and English," the middle judge said. I nodded eagerly and all three judges smiled at me.
"Can you sing?" the judge on the left asked. He looked familiar but I couldn't put my finger on it. His doe eyes seemed to watch my every move.
"I have a song prepared actually," I replied. I pulled up Positions by Ariana Grande and started to sing. I actually had chosen the song just for facial expressions and how smooth Ariana sounded in the song.
After finishing, I looked at the judges again. The one on the right and the middle judge applauded and stood up. My eyes traveled to the left judge who was still sitting. He looked up and nodded his head.
"Next in line," he said. My smile turned to a frown as I was escorted out of the room.
What the hell was that?
I was flabbergasted as I stood outside of the talent building.
Bighit Labels I read in my mind. I scoffed.
More like big jerk labels.
I huffed and walked off to my car around the side of the building. I sighed as I sunk into my seat and glanced at the flyers of different music labels in my passenger seat.
I really hope I didn't blow this one too.
A phone call from my dad interrupted my thoughts and I nervously answered.
Dad: Sohyun?
Me: Yes dad?
Dad: I hope the audition went well. You have work at our company on Monday though.
Me: Dad the results haven't even been decided yet! We made a deal that I would only work at the company if I failed all of my auditions.
Dad: And how many of them have you passed?
Me: None
Dad: Exactly. Stick to your roots and come to work at 9am.
Me: Yes sir.
Dad: Love you. Bye.
Me: Bye Dad.
I hung up and leaned my head against the steering wheel. The only thing I hated worse than being underestimated is being confined to a stupid cubicle in a building. My dad owned 'Sunshine Enterprises' and wants me to take over the company in a few years. Ever since I was little though I had a yearn for singing and dancing. I won trophies in high school but was never allowed in competitions because it wasn't 'businesslike.' So I made a deal with him. So much for achieving my hopes and dreams. The only thing he had surprisingly agreed to was that I could get my own place as a sense of responsibility. Yeah I had finessed my way to get away from him.
Once I got back to my apartment I had a relaxing bath with vanilla scented bath bombs and lots of bubbles. My phone rang playing Seventeen's Left & Right. I peered over and saw that it was my best friend calling.
"Hey Minhee, what's up?" I asked once I answered the phone and put it on speaker.
"I should be asking you that!!!" she squealed. "How did the audition at Bighit go?"
I groaned and she giggled.
"One of the judges was hella rude and just excused me when I was done. It was like a kdrama scene where the boy is nice 1 second and rude the next," I explained.
"Sounds like the start of something new," she teased. "Was he cute?"
"Minhee, stop trying to hook me up with everyone cute guy out there. If I even had a choice in who I dated then I would choose an idol or something," I grinned.
"Ayy you're cute enough to pull off dating an idol alright. You could even date someone from BTS," she joked. My eyes widened and I sat up.
"That's it!" I yelled.
"Um. I was joking Hyun," Minhee said.
"No Hee! That judge! He was from BTS. The maknae I think. He had like doe eyes," I said as everything fell into place.
"Jeon Jungkook?" she asked.
"HIM! Hee I'll call you back alright? I gotta do some research," I said as I wrapped a towel around myself and stepped out of the bathroom.
"Alright, later Hyunnie!" she yelled. I grinned and hung up. I got dressed in sweatpants and a long shirt before pulling out my laptop and looking up videos of Jungkook performing.
"His form is... perfect," I mumbled.
Dance. Perfect. Vocals. PITCH Perfect. He even raps!?!
What the hell is up with this guy? Did God personally make him or something?
I sighed as I leaned back in my bed.
"It's like he's perfect without even trying," I muttered under my breath.
I scanned all of the members and their forms, but Jungkook was practically perfect right next to J-Hope. I pulled up my email, only to find no new emails.
I wish they would just reject me or accept me already. I hate the waiting.
I decided to try singing a new song to let my worries out and finally decided to choose Still with You by... Jungkook.
What the hell? Am I obsessed with him or something?
I shook my head to gather my thoughts and practice the song slowly. Hours went by and I was only halfway through.
"This guy's pitch is too perfect for me. I give up," I said as I closed my laptop and set it on my nightstand. I pulled the covers over my body and closed my eyes.
Here's to tomorrow.
I internally hoped I would be accepted to Bighit- and with that I was out like a light.
